In this video we have 10 tips that will help you improve your carving snowboard turns! A carve is when you ride your snowboards edge around a turn. Carving is an aggressive way to turn with your snowboard with speed and control. Carving is also necessary if you want to do spinning ticks in the park and for riding the half pipe. You can start learning to carve by focusing on one turn at a time. For the toe carve focusing on bending your knees toward the snow. For the heel carve pretending like you're sitting in a chair. As the individual carves improve you can start linking them together on a mellow slope. Always progress at your own pace and be safe while practicing your snowboard carving turns. Thanks for watching!</a>

How to Carve pt 4: Speed Control

But by working on being able to do it, it'll really get you making a clean line with your edge and learning to use your boards sidecut in new ways. And then after that, its great to use when carving and want to prevent yourself from going too fast down the hill (which forces you into skidded turns).</a>

Board: Burton Custom 158W (camber)
Energy: Monster
Mountain: Breck

1. Silent upper body with torso bent and facing forward. This allows dynamic movements of the lower body and board.

2. Practice quick little turns while maintaining silent upper body

3. Point board straight down hill (at low speeds) and point and flex your feet to get a feel for how the sidecut of your board reacts with the snow.

4. Once comfy with the sidecuts motions through the snow, push into the sidecut and hold pushing it into the snow to make carves across the run.

5. Combine making little mini carves in between the large carves you are doing across the run.</a>
