The iconic City Prologue of Red Bull Romaniacs 2022 made its comeback after two years of longing and it was a feast of urban struggle for the hard enduro world. The action at the FIM’s Hard Enduro World Championship resumed in Romania for Round 5 Red Bull Romaniacs, 26-30 July 2022. Being in the historic heart of Sibiu, the City Prologue is known for its ridiculously hard man-made obstacles and it took so many tolls on the riders in the past. It was replaced with Off-Road Time Trial Qualification first in 2020, due to the global pandemic, and this situation continued in 2021 also. With the eased health measures, it was the organization’s chance to return back to originals and they did so. All riders took 2 hot laps in order to be qualified as high as possible to the prologue finals and at the Gold Class it was Alfredo Gomez who scored the best time. He was followed by Manuel Lettenbichler and Taddy Blazusiak. During the finals the story did not change much and the qualification top three finished on top again with a slight change of positions. Alfredo Gomez got the City Prologue victory and continued showing muscle in his post-factory career. The extreme enduro circus moved to Tuscany for the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship 2022's Round 4, Abestone Hard Enduro. The training session of the Red Bull Abestone 2022 was as hard as the main race's itself and in the given time all riders tested their settings and skillets. We were back at racing at the FIM’s Hard Enduro World Championship with Round 4, Red Bull Abestone, in Tuscany. This was the second ever addition at the gnarly ski resort of Abetone and it was bound to be hard as hell with the technical rocky sections. Racing weekend started with Saturday’s Straight Rhythm qualifier and Billy Bolt was the man to secure the lead starting position for the main race. Alfredo Gomez came in P2 and Manuel Lattenbichler P3. Billy Bolt flagged away to open the track and lead the pack on Sunday. There were 30 seconds in between top starters but when it’s the hard enduro it is not a big one. Manuel Lettenbichler got passed Alfredo and Billy before the mid first lap and from then on, the German rode his pace without making any mistakes and even pushing when he felt it needed. He got his third win in a row which was beyond expectations even for him. Billy Bolt lost the contact right after Mani’s got passed him and tried to stick on the position with a sore wrist. The Brit brought the P2 Podium home safe and kept the chin up. For the third podium place the battle was fierce. After the qualifying disaster, Mario Roman had to start far behind the leading group, P13. The Spaniard however, got a good rhythm and recovered all the way up to P3. Round 3 at the FIM World Hard Enduro Championship was the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo and duty number one was the 10KM Iron Road Prologue. Prologue Heat 1 was on Friday and the track was wet from the rain that region received over night. More than 900 riders took the mission and tried their best to get qualified for the Hare Scramble. Heat 2 was on the next day and because the track dried up, we had a completely different story. Most of the riders couldn’t achieve a better rhythm because of the dry and loose track. Sonny Goggia shocked everyone and set a really competitive time in those conditions. He completed the day on top but over all top 3 was from the Heat 1. Dieter Rudolf took only one shot and it was on Friday’s Heat one. The Austrian set a competitive time and secured his first row start position, P16 - 07:25,495. After three days of racing, we finally reached to the last day at the 2nd round of FIM World Hard Enduro Championship 2022 Season, Xross Hard Enduro Rally. Riders fought back and forth starting from Straight Rhythm Prologue and through Offroad Day 1-2. Manuel Lettenbichler was the one on top of the leader board with a comfortable gap, +8m, and all he had to is to stick to his pace one more day. The German admitted that he came here without any expectation but after Day 2 he found himself leading and that changed the mood. Letti had yet another great riding without any trouble and crowned his comeback with a victory. Theodor Kabakchiev proved himself to be a serious contender to the factory riders and got a stunning podium appearance with a P2. Young Bulgarian now sits in P3 at the championship standings after a P6 at Rd1 Minus 400 and a P2 here in Serbia, 27Pts. 47 years old GOAT Graham Jarvis was the one who completed the podium. Coming back from a major knee injury and becoming a privateer, the Brit still has it and he now leads the WHEC standing with Billy Bolt, 30 Pts each. Xross was also the 1st round of the newly announced integrated World Hard Enduro Junior Championship. South African Matt Green was the one who topped the points at the first round with an overall P10. He was followed by Britain’s Mitch Brightmore, P14, and Israel’s Suff Sella, P15. Italy’s top hard enduro rider Sonny Goggia took on the FIM’s World Hard Enduro Championship 2022 season with Round 1, Minus 400 Desert Extreme. With his new team and new ride, he looked sharp and tried his best under the severe weather conditions. Racing week started with Day 1’s Urban race prologue and all riders took 2 hot laps to set the best time possible. Sonny finished his first heat in 26m44s and got the P8. Extreme XL Lagares 2022 was held past weekend and it was a great hard enduro show for both competitors and fans. After last years hectic last minute cancellation it was the time for a great comeback in 2022. Organization put a great effort and added the iconic city prologue again but this time on the other side of the river. Sherco duo Mario Roman and Wade Young was everyone's favourite but William Hoare, Francesc Moret and Diogo Vieira were strong challengers. City Prologue wholeshot was a brief one and it was won by Mario. He was followed by fellow teammate Wade and Diogo was 3rd. Endurocross action consisted of two semi-finals and a super final for each class. Pro class super final victory was claimed by Eurotek's William Hoare. Diogo Vieira came in P2 and Wade Young P3. Main Race on Sunday took start at 10:00am local. Wade Young was the early leader of the stage and kept it for a while. Mario Roman recovered the damage left from the Endurocross and managed to pass his teammate for the victory. Wade came in P2 and William Hoare P3. We had an extreme season opener at the FIM’s World Hard Enduro Championship 2022 Season in Israel’s exotic Dead Sea region. Racing week started with the Urban Race prologue and it is followed with the Super Enduro action in the afternoon. Worlds best hard enduro riders took two hot laps in the Urban Race prologue and the fastest 30 qualified to the super enduro. After three semi-finals 12 riders took the whole shot for the super final. 2021 and 2022 FIM Super Enduro champion Billy Bolt was everyones favourite and he brought the P1 home. Wildwoods Extreme Enduro’s main race is known to be a tough one but the heavy rain made it even tougher. Italian Extreme Enduro Rd 1, Wildwoods Extreme Enduro, held in Genova with international talents lined up for the trophy. Gold Class main race took start at 15:00 local and lasted for the following 2h. National Hard Enduro hero Sonny Goccia was one of the favorites and made Italian fans cheer everytime he passes. He battled his way with Dominik Olszowy and came out as the leader of the race for a long time but later on he made mistakes which caused him the victory. World's best hard enduro riders faced a different kind of challenge in Israel at the Minus 400 Desert Extreme and it was the mindblowing heat. FIM's World Hard Enduro 2022 season started with Rd 1 Minus 400 and sometimes the conditions went inhumane. All competitors started to the Day 1 with a 14KM single track qualifier which was to define the fastest 30 to compete the afternoon session Super Enduro finals. They have got two runs for the best time but only the first one was mandatory. Although Billy Bolt was on top after the first run Sherco duo Mario and Wade took their second and passed Billy. Wednesday - Day 2 - started with a shock of heat and it was 40 degrees celsius early in the morning. Riders hit the 18KM prologue with the hope of having a flawless one which would help them decide not to take the optional second run. Sherco’s Wade Young was on a charge and completed the first run on top by finishing it in 37m48s. His team mate Mario Roman came in second only 6s behind and Billy Bolt third, +22s. The weather conditions got worse by the temperature reaching 50 degrees and a sand storm closing in which forced the jury to cancel second run and let riders charge their bodies for the main challenge.
