Description: UPDATED TRACK GUIDE HERE!! :) https://youtu.be/N26MHY78cFU ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Everyone! Welcome to my video! I wanted to post this video to help people who are new to karting, have never been to COTA before, or maybe even are karting enthusiasts get a feel of the track and see what a usual top time of the month looks like from a driver's point of view. I remember going to YouTube myself but could not find a video under 57 seconds or so within the past 2 years, so I took it upon myself to do it myself! Specifics: -I am driving the "champ" level go karts -Video was filmed at around 9: 30pm, so it is dark. -Full race of ~15 people, but I got very lucky with a full lap with no traffic. KARTING TIPS: Most Important: -Know the racing line (Or at least get an idea of what one is). If you have no idea what it is, that's ok! Take a few minutes to look it up and spend some time to understand what it is and why it is so essential. -DO. NOT. DRIFT. Even the squealing of the tires is a sign of you losing forward momentum and as a result losing precious tenths of time. If you have raced faster karts before: remember these are rental karts and although skidding into a corner might be faster in a higher powered shifter, it just plainly isn't here. Stick to a smooth line. -Don't jerk the wheel. Your steering should be somewhat fluid and not sharp back and forth as you will have a higher chance of understeering and/or losing control of the kart. -Keep your foot on the gas when it's not on lifting at the last possible moment. (even just barely) The truth is that on this track you don't need to brake. An important thing to do is to keep the RPMs high in the motor as they are not super powerful. In order to do this keep your foot jussst slightly on the gas even when lifting into a corner to keep the motor engaged and ready to accelerate on exit. Other specific stuff: -Try not to hit any curbs. The curbs on this track are killer and will not gain you anything by hopping up on two wheels or even getting beached on them. -Stay right after turn 1, hit an early apex on turn 2, and then slowly fan out onto the straight. This is the fastest way to gain time onto the straight. -Use a late apex into turn 4 to gain more time into turn 5. -Cut right after the curb of turn 7 to set you up for the hairpin. -Use every inch coming out of turn 8 so you can carry a ton of momentum through the corner. (Might get a little bumpy) -Go way left before entering turns 10-12, and hit a very late apex and use all the track on exit. -Ignore a practical line through turn 13, just make sure you set up 14 correctly onto the straight. -Take a geometric or "ideal" line through turn 15 flat out. -Use all of the track entering turns 1, 4, 8, and 10. -Use all of the track exiting turns 3, 8, 12, 14, and 15. *Disclaimer* This is not a perfect lap! There are people who have gone faster! I am putting this video out purely with the intent of helping people.
