Description: In 2006, X Games tried a new spin on surf competitions: East Coast vs. West Coast. Picking athletes from both sides of the U.S., X Games landed in Puerto Escondido, Mexico for a head-to-head match up that featured some of the world’s best surfers, including Tom Curren, Rob Machado, Dane Reynolds for the West Coast, plus Shea and Cory Lopez for the East Coast. Hosted by Selema Masekela and run a month before the remainder of competitions in Los Angeles, surfing at the X Games kicked off a stacked summer of competitions in 2006.
