Extreme XL Lagares returned after two years of absence and hard enduro magicians from all around the world lined up for a taste of Portuguese extreme, 6 - 8 May 2022. Francesc Moret Clota was kind enough to wear our GoPro during the main race and he captured as much as from the start till his battery died. Rieju Factory rider did great during the first two days but it was time to really show off what he has from his trials background. The Spanish man felt great and made a good start and even collected some positions early in the race. He did not have any technical problem with his ride but the pace wasn’t there for a podium appearance at the end. Francesc completed the race in 3h54m58s and claimed P6 behind Ni Esteves. After two years of absence Extreme XL Lagares was back on for the 2022 edition and during the whole weekend we captured some of the most unique and scientifically unexplainable hard enduro fails. Main race on Sunday was easier than usual and it was completed 1 hour earlier than expected but both City Prologue and the Endurocross tracks were tricky as hell. We edited the best of the fails that caught on cameras for you to enjoy and learn. We thank to all fans for the cheer and to the organization for a great show. Racing weekend was started with Endurocross on Friday and continued with City Prologue on Saturday. Especially having the iconic City Prologue back was exciting even if it was a brief one. After each rider took one lap the fastest 10 qualified for the whole shot. Endurocross semi-finals and the final were in the evening. Main race was on Sunday. Extreme XL Lagares’s legendary City Prologue made a comeback after two years and it was a great entertainment through Porto’s iconic streets. It was held the other side of the river for the first time and organization put a lot of effort to execute this massive operation at the touristic heart of the city. All riders took one hot lap to set the best time. XL, Hobby and Veteran classes rode the track in reverse which was fairly easy and match for their skillsets. Then Expert and Pro classes took the scene for the real challenge. Massive obstacles and narrow streets were tricky to pass and sometimes riders made mistakes which were ended up with fails. The fastest 10 qualified for the City Prologue whole shot which was a race of the same track for only one lap. Jumping right into the narrow street stairs caused a bit of traffic which took a while to pass. Mario Roman made a great start and took the early lead and did not effected by the traffic jam. His teammate Wade Young was behind but the race was brief and couldn’t find a chance to make a move. Mario Roman got the victory for the first podium of the race, Wade Young came in P2 and Portuguese Diogo Vieira P3. Extreme XL Lagares 2022 was held past weekend and it was a great hard enduro show for both competitors and fans. After last years hectic last minute cancellation it was the time for a great comeback in 2022. Organization put a great effort and added the iconic city prologue again but this time on the other side of the river. Sherco duo Mario Roman and Wade Young was everyone's favourite but William Hoare, Francesc Moret and Diogo Vieira were strong challengers. City Prologue wholeshot was a brief one and it was won by Mario. He was followed by fellow teammate Wade and Diogo was 3rd. Endurocross action consisted of two semi-finals and a super final for each class. Pro class super final victory was claimed by Eurotek's William Hoare. Diogo Vieira came in P2 and Wade Young P3. Main Race on Sunday took start at 10:00am local. Wade Young was the early leader of the stage and kept it for a while. Mario Roman recovered the damage left from the Endurocross and managed to pass his teammate for the victory. Wade came in P2 and William Hoare P3. Day 2 Endurocross Super Final action from Extreme XL Lagares was a show to watch and we are all lucky to have winners GoPro POV. Pro class final heat witnessed a breathtaking challenge between Wade Young, William Hoare and Diogo Vieira. Wade was the early leader but the mistake he did through the rocky curve let William and Diogo pass. Wade tried to recover it but being in a rush made it easy to make mistakes and he did so. From that on it was between Will and Diogo. The two exchanged the lead for a couple times but at the end it was William Hoare who made it.
