For the first time since 2009, an American topped the podium as rookie Dusty Henrickson earned his second gold medal in his rookie X Games event. In 2020, Aspen local Alex Ferreira came out swinging to take the gold medal in Ski SuperPipe. Having won gold in 2019, Ferreira was quick to acknowledge the proverbial target on his back and how much pressure he was feeling heading into the competition. But he put all that pressure aside, focused on the task at hand and landed one of the best runs we've ever seen in Ski SuperPipe. Last year at X Games Aspen 2019, we brought in a new snowboard event dubbed Knuckle Huck. With some inspiration from Marcus Kleveland and his Instagram clips, we decided to roll the dice and the event was an instant success. The formula is simple: Instead of hucking the biggest jump for points, athletes were encouraged to get creative off the “knuckle.” And instead of triple corks, we were introduced to new tricks that don’t even have names yet. Fridtjof Tischendorf walked away with the golden knuckles, and now it’s back for X Games Aspen 2020.
