Flashback to April 21, 2013. X Games has gone global and after winter stops in Aspen and Tignes, we dipped down to Brazil for X Games Foz do Iguaçu 2013. On day four, Brazil's Leticia Bufoni stepped up her game on the final run to secure her first gold medal in a buzzer-beater over Leo Baker. "I'm so f----ing happy," said Bufoni right after the win on Sunday, posting a 87.33. "I'm so stoked! I mean… I'm just so stoked." She also credited her move to California with helping her progress toward her first gold. "There are a lot of skateparks [in California]," she said, "and here in Brazil we don't have a lot of skateparks." Swapping out previously landed standards for higher-scoring maneuvers, such as a lip slide down the big rail to close out her winning run, Bufoni edged past Baker, 21, who held the lead for most of the 15-minute final jam session. Baker, who won the bronze medal at X Games in 2006, was the contest's early standout with difficult tricks, such as a nose slide backside 270 out. Baker's 86.33 earned her the silver medal as Bufoni's fellow countrywoman, Jessica Florencio, 21, took home her first X Games medal with the bronze. Flashback to April 20, 2013. X Games has gone global and after winter stops in Aspen and Tignes, we dipped down to Brazil for X Games Foz do Iguaçu 2013. On day three, Kyle Baldock rallied to his first X Games medal in BMX Park. "I can't tell you how I pulled it together," the Gold Coast native said right after the victory, highlighted by tailwhip flairs, corked 900s, and a backflip 360 early in the event. "Practice was pretty hard for me because I don't ride courses like this. But seeing everyone throw down made me want to get out there. And to actually pull it together? Against Pat [Casey]? I have no words. I'm going home the happiest Aussie ever." Pat Casey stalked Baldock for much of the final jam session with stylish barspin flairs and double tailwhip 270 transfers. But during his final push for the top of the podium, Casey lost his line and settled for the silver medal. Dennis Enarson returned to the BMX Park course with his brand of fast and stylish park riding and led the finals for most of the jam session. Near the end of the jam, Enarson hung his back wheel on a bowl air. He declined his final run of the contest, but his score held up to earn him the bronze medal. On day one, young guns and seasoned veterans produced a Skateboard Big Air show for the ages in Brazil. And in the end, Brazil's own Bob Burnquist draped yet another Big Air gold medal around his neck for the discipline's first three-peat. "We've had these MegaRamp events here, and I've gotten wins here, but, this was unique," Burnquist said. "I'm really stoked. And to do it here at home, as the first main X Games … I can't ask for anything better." An on-point Elliot Sloan claimed silver. Australia's 38-year-old Jake Brown took home the bronze medal, along the way penning a new page in the history books with skateboarding's first 720 ollie. On day one, Spanish motocross rider Laia Sanz dominated the Women's Enduro X final, thwarting Maria Forsberg's attempt at a three-peat after passing her in one of the first obstacle sections and taking a massive 15-second lead in the first of six laps. Sanz was the top qualifier coming into finals, and lapped most of the field, proving she'll be a podium threat in any future events. "I came here for my first time and I knew that taking a medal would be really difficult," Sanz said after the race. "I didn't hope to win, so I'm really, really happy. It's an incredible thing."
