I know that there are a lot of new beginner snowboarders on the channel and I want to give you guys some tips to progress from green to blue and onto black runs! The best place to practice your snowboard turns when you're a beginner is on the green slopes. Here you can build your confidence and get down the fundamentals. Put lot of mileage on your snowboard in the green area and work on adding speed and control to your turns. The hard part of your first blue run is dealing with the steepness and speed. A common mistake is for people to lean back toward their tale on the first attempts. Take your front hand and point it down toward the snow to get your weight forward on your snowboard and easily make the turn. Being able to control your speed evenly on both edge will take you past the beginner snowboard stages and set you up for the more difficult snowboard runs. Finally when you arrive at a black diamond the steepness can be intimidating. The key is to use your whole body to quickly turn your snowboard quickly down the black diamond run. Pick the right conditions to attempt your first black diamon</a>

In this video we've got five tips to help you improve you snowboarding turns. These are the five best tips that I've used to help snowboarders improve their turns! Today I'm snowboarding on Blackcomb mountain and Chris is helping us with the tips. The first tip to improve you turns is to keep you back hand over the tail of your snowboard. This will keep you more balanced over your snowboard and also make your toe turn come around smoother. The second tip is to use your knees through bumpy and uneven terrain. By using your knees you'll keep your snowboard in contact with the snow and keep you more in control of your turns. The third tip is to spray snow evenly though out your turns. By spraying snow evenly you'll distribute the effort evenly over your toe and heel turns. The fourth tip is to practice your switch snowboard tuns. By practicing switch you'll challenge your balance, which will improve your normal snowboard turns when you switch back. Finally challenge yourself by turning on side banks. A sign of improving your riding is when you can confidently turn your snowboard on the side banks. If you have any questions about snowboard turns you can leave them in the comments. Thanks for watching!

In this video I head to the top of Blackcomb mountain to snowboard down a double black diamond run. I've got 3 tips that will help you to survive snowboarding on sketchy steep runs like this. The first tip is to stay on your edges at all times while on steep runs. The edge that I prefer to stay on for the steepest parts is my toe edge. The second tip is to make quick turns with your whole body. Making quick turns on your snowboard will keep you in control and stop you from picking up too much speed. The final tip is to make sure you're snowboarding with a balanced body position. This means riding with your knees bent and back straight. Plus keeping your back hand over the tail of your snowboard on toe turns. I hope these three tips will help you survive double black diamond runs on your snowboard! This video was filmed on the Couloir Extreme in Whistler, B.C.

Improve your snowboarding by challenging yourself to ride with different size turns. As you snowboard through different types of terrain you want to pick a turn size that will get you down the run. Smaller turn sizes on steep terrain. Medium turn shape size on more intermediate terrain. Finally long turns for flat terrain. Practicing different turn shapes will improve your snowboarding and prepare you for all types of terrain.

In this video I challenge you to use your snowboards edge more aggressively. You use your snowboards edge to turn and control your speed. By using your edge earlier in your turn, you'll have more control over your board on advanced terrain. A tactic to help you get your snowboard on edge earlier is to show the base of your snowboard to the side or top of the run. You also want to use your ankles to increase your edge angle while snowboarding. I hope you'll try this challenge and give me some feedback on how it goes. Have fun out there snowboarding!

Snowboard through bumps is a great way to improve you snowboarding. You use you knees to absorb the pressure that snowboarding through bumps creates. Bend your knees independently to absorb the bump, then extend between bumps to keep your snowboard in contact with the snow. Find a bumpy run that you can traverse across and practice using your knees to absorb the pressure. Practicing will improve the way you use your knees through uneven terrain. Have fun improving your snowboarding and I'll see you in the next video!

In this video I've got three tips turning your snowboard down icy steep runs. Icy runs can be difficult to turn down and increase your chances of falling. The first tip for turning on ice is to look ahead and plan your turns. There will be some areas of the run that are more icy than others, so plan your turns to avoid these areas. If you can't avoid an icy patch you can anticipate the ice and adjust your riding. The second tip for snowboarding on ice is to be balanced over your snowboard. Ride with your knees bent, back fairly straight and hands at your side. This balanced body position will stop you from leaning too far over your heel and toe edge. The third tip for snowboarding on ice is to put your snowboard on too much of an edge. Try to let your snowboard slide with the ice. Increasing your snowboards edge angle or trying to stop may cause you to slide out on the ice. I hope these three tips for snowboarding on ice will help your riding!

In this 360° video I've got 5 tactics that will help you turn your snowboard down steep runs. Scroll around the 360 degree video to get the best angle. The first tactic for turning down steep runs is to practice sliding on your heel and toe edge. This will build your confidence so you can commit to the turn, knowing you can control your speed. The second tactic is to reach your front hand toward your snowboard. This will get your board moving straight down hill and all the back of your snowboard to slide around smoothly. The third tip is to turn your board with your whole body. By steering with your knees, hips, core, and shoulders your snowboard will turn much faster. The fourth tactic is to keep your back hand over the tail of your snowboard. Especially on your toe turn, keeping your hand over your tail will help your boards slide around smooth. The final tactic is to time your turn by counting to two in your head. 2 seconds to control your speed, 2 seconds to go straight, then 2 seconds to control your speed on your new snowboard edge.</a>
