The WORLD’s Most BRUTAL Street Car Challenge! Hot Rod’s “Drag Week” 2018 has OFFICIALLY launched and the competition has begun! With over 400 STREET CARS filling the pits of Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA, the tech lines have opened and testing lanes are full! Every year Hot Rod Magazine puts on the WORLD standard in STREET CAR tests, as they challenge any and all racer’s that believe they have a road worthy racecar! The insane popularity of this event only grows each year as pre-registration spots open up and sell out in under 10 MINUTES! These racer’s are only allowed to trailer their cars TO the event and from there they have to bring what they need to complete the 1,000+ EXHAUSTING miles. On top of the road trip, racers MUST make at least one pass at every track to stay in the competition, and at the end of the week their time slips are gathered, averaged, and from there each class winner is declared. It may sound simple, but every year only a fraction of the cars that enter…make it back to the the initial track to complete the punishing adventure! Tire Shake So Bad His BUMPER Broke Off! During the final day of 1320Video’s Rocky Mountain Race Week, the racers whom made it all the way thorough the tests and challenges of race week were ready to celebrate by turning the cars up! With the fear of not making it to the next race track gone, many of the racers decided to try their luck by shooting for their fasted pass of the week in an effort to put on a show as well as bring down their averages! Some racers made their best passes of the week, while some pushed too far ending them on the trailer sooner than intended, Out of the record 140+ cars that entered, a shocking 120 of the cars made it through the challenging week to completion, proving their cars worthy of being deemed a TRUE street car! Gas Station Suprise! (Sleeper TURBO RX8) was exactly that, a complete and total surprise! Pulling up to the pumps of this Aussie petrol station, we saw a couple clean looking rotaries but we had NO IDEA they were even modded at all! Once the drive popped the bonnet and we saw that massive GT45 turbo bolted to that almost equal size 20B rotary engine, our jaws dropped. Talk about a serious sleeper! After the driver gave us a few bits about the car, including the fact that it looks completely stock but puts out nearly 750hp, we HAD to get a ride in it. Lucky for us the driver was willing to not only oblige our addiction, but he was willing to put on a show for us too!
