At most resorts the longest rail you can find is around 30ft, and that extra 10ft makes a noticeable difference. Going for tricks on longer features is a good way to show yourself that you have that particular trick on lock, it is much harder to balance a trick to the end of such a long feature. It can also be a bit intimidating to step up to larger features, so in this video I thought I would share some of the things I was thinking about while trying tricks on the 40ft down rail. Today we're snowboarding in the High Cascade terrain park on Mt Hood. They have some perfect medium and large jumps for practicing spins. The first tip for learning this snowboard trick is to build up to the trick slowly practicing on smaller jump and side hits first. This is a more advanced grab that is challenging and a lot of fun to do with backside rotations once you are more comfortable with the trick. You're going to grab the toe edge of your snowboard between your bindings with your front hand, similar to a mute grab, however for the Japan you will be pulling your snowboard up and behind you once you get the grab. The most critical tip in order to get the tweak with this grab is to reach your arm outside of your knee when you are reaching for the snowboard. This is going to allow you to pull the board back without getting hung up inside your knees. We're snowboarding today in the Burton Stash park in Avoriaz France, which has all natural wooden features! The 50 50 is a great beginner snowboarding trick and opens the door to many other tricks on boxes and rails. Like all snowboarding tricks its best to first practice outside of the park on the slopes. The first tip for the 50 50 is to approach the feature with a few set up turns. This will get you centered with the feature and dial in your speed. Next get onto the box with your weight centered over your snowboard. This will allow you to slide smoothly to the end of the box.
