The WORLD’s Most BRUTAL Street Car Challenge! Hot Rod’s “Drag Week” 2018 has OFFICIALLY launched and the competition has begun! With over 400 STREET CARS filling the pits of Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA, the tech lines have opened and testing lanes are full! Every year Hot Rod Magazine puts on the WORLD standard in STREET CAR tests, as they challenge any and all racer’s that believe they have a road worthy racecar! The insane popularity of this event only grows each year as pre-registration spots open up and sell out in under 10 MINUTES! These racer’s are only allowed to trailer their cars TO the event and from there they have to bring what they need to complete the 1,000+ EXHAUSTING miles. On top of the road trip, racers MUST make at least one pass at every track to stay in the competition, and at the end of the week their time slips are gathered, averaged, and from there each class winner is declared. It may sound simple, but every year only a fraction of the cars that enter…make it back to the the initial track to complete the punishing adventure! He Traded His JET BOAT for THIS? What do you do when you’re looking for a new engine for your car and you’re not really into your Jet Boat at the moment? Trade it with a buddy for his old engine, of course. That is, if you buddy is Tom Bailey and he’s got his old 540 c.i. Steve Morris built racing engine laying around with no use for i! Not only does this 8 second “low boost” monster have a legendary power plant, it also has a jaw dropping paint job that commands your eyes to it on every pass. Apparently it’s a layer of “Apple Red” over a “Satin Black” that leads to this DEEP pearly paint that looks like it’s soaking wet! Upon hearing the news that Tom Bailey and Jeff Lutz would be bringing their PROMOD Camaro’s to Drag Week 2015, we nearly lost our freaking nuggets! The Street Outlaws are all moving into the Pro Mod world, and the world is LOSING THEIR MINDS... but driving one over 1,000 miles!?!?! Despite obvious concerns - like an extended frame that is only a few inches off the ground, and the obvious dangers that our US highways afflict, Bailey made it through with minimal issues or damages AND took home 1st place in the Unlimited Class!
