After Day 1’s City Prologue and Day 2’s Campoo Xtreme Mani managed to reserve the front row for final action, Lost Roads. From start to finish he controlled everything and stayed away doing major mistakes which would have put a tragic end to his almost flawless season. At the end of the day, The German rightfully defended his title and became a 3rd time champion of the world. Mario, with just 4 pts behind Letti, was full of hopes at the start of the week but the opening days didn’t turn out to favour him. He still had a 2h30m extremely hard course to cover as well as his rivals and opportunities might show up. He put his head down, caught his pace and started working on damage recovery but at the end it was just not enough against Letti. The Spaniard crossed the line 2nd and therefore completed the season with P2 on the podium. City Prologue winner Alfredo Gomez was the one who completed the podium for Hixpania Hard Enduro 2022. HEWC championship 3rd position contender Graham Jarvis managed to complete P5 and secured his spot on the season’s overall podium. South African Matt Green became the title winner of the newly introduced Junior Hard Enduro World Champion after a delightful season to remember for himself. Teodor Kabakchiev proved himself to be a serious contender and made it to the P2 podium spot before some of the finest factory riders. Title defender Manuel Lettenbichler, whose hopes of winning the race were battered with a 2h time penalty on Day 1, started the day from 17th place. The German rode an blistering pace though out the day and came out on top by clearing more than 16 minutes to his closest rival for the day, Graham Jarvis. With the fact that Mani is out of the picture, Graham Jarvis had to focus on Teodor Kabakchiev and Mario Roman without getting into trouble. The GOAT got the job done by coming in faster than both behind Mani, P2. He stretched his overall lead to more than 9 minutes against Kabakchiev. It was the young Bulgarian who completed the top 3 for the day and kept his overall P2 position. The breaking news of the day was Alfredo Gomez’s food poisoning. The Spaniard explained the situation via an Instagram post saying that something he had for dinner the previous day affected him badly. He wasn’t able to sleep or have something to eat all day long and received medical aid. Chris Birch’s P1 performance on Day 2 brought him the overall lead by one minute at the Silver Class. The day ended around Trans Alpina pass and all riders to spend the night in the beautiful ski resort of Ranca. Romaniacs 2022 Off-road Day 2 Top 10 1. The action at the FIM’s Hard Enduro World Championship resumed in Romania for Round 5 Red Bull Romaniacs, 26-30 July 2022. Being in the historic heart of Sibiu, the City Prologue is known for its ridiculously hard man-made obstacles and it took so many tolls on the riders in the past. It was replaced with Off-Road Time Trial Qualification first in 2020, due to the global pandemic, and this situation continued in 2021 also. With the eased health measures, it was the organization’s chance to return back to originals and they did so. All riders took 2 hot laps in order to be qualified as high as possible to the prologue finals and at the Gold Class it was Alfredo Gomez who scored the best time. He was followed by Manuel Lettenbichler and Taddy Blazusiak. During the finals the story did not change much and the qualification top three finished on top again with a slight change of positions. Alfredo Gomez got the City Prologue victory and continued showing muscle in his post-factory career. Polish Hard Enduro sensation Taddy Blazusiak claimed P2 and defending HEWC champion Manuel Lettenbichler P3. Romaniacs City Prologue Finals Top 10 1. The one-day Bavarian hard enduro action started with a 2h Getzen Race qualification in the morning. Fastest 15 of which to be competing at the afternoon’s party piece, Getzen Champ. Getzen Champ was expected to be season’s peak excitement and it met the expectation very spectacularly. The title fight between Manuel Lettenbichler and Billy Bolt was tight and because Mani had the qualification advantage Bolt needed to be very careful. Early in the race it was all looking bright for Billy Bolt but following a couple of mistakes he found himself in P6 during the halfway into the race. From that on Bolt found his pace and recovered all the damage up to P2, which was just enough for him to claim the title. Getzen Rodeo 2021 Podium 1. Manuel Lettenbichler 2. Billy Bolt 3. It was the most demanding challenge so far and we saw a lot of riders fighting intensely on the edge of giving up. The most dramatic moment of the day came as the leading pack closed in to the finish line. 6-time winner Graham Jarvis got his foot stuck and twisted his knee just 40 minutes before the end. The Lagend had to retire from his favourite one. On the other hand Defending champion Manuel Lettenbichler had a good ride and arrived to the finish on top and now sits in the overall lead. Sherco’s Mario Roman was another level today and draw a strong image at the most technical sections. The Spaniard came in 2nd. Extreme heat and a demanding track put all the riders under severe tests but the most shocking news came from the leading pack. As they closed in to the finish line, 6-time winner Graham Jarvis got his foot stuck and twisted his knee just 40 minutes before the end. The Lagend had to retire from his favourite one. Upon his initial medical check he was informed that “lateral collateral ligament grade 2-3” but for the final assessment he will take an MRI. Normally planned to be the third round, the race became first to collect championship points after chaotic last minute Lagares failure and cancellation of Red Bull Erzbergrodeo. In the end championship organizers put great effort and took everyone back to good old racing. After Day 1's Time Practice and Day 2's Enduro tests the fastest 50 qualified for the Super Final on Day 3. Day 3’s main event, Super Final, started on 14:00 and all 50 riders to take a 15KM lap twice at the breath taking Abetone Ski Resort. It was expected to be completed within 3 hours window for the fastest but it turned out to be faster than that. With a variety of different technical sectors in it the Super Final held great many challenges to the riders. Billy Bolt had a lightning speed into the day and took the early lead. With constant pressure from Mani the two stretched their lead against the rest and created their individual battle. The lead went back and forth between the two throughout the course. In the end of the day it was Rockstar Husqvarna’s Billy Bolt who reached the chequered flag first and made history for Abestone Hardenduro. KTM Factory rider Manuel Lettenbichler came in P2 by just falling 41 seconds behind. The last step of the debut podium for Abestone was claimed by Graham Jarvis of Rockstar Husqvarna.
