Saturn is not a name you hear much in the automotive world since they shut down years back, but even more rare is hearing about a street legal 500hp Saturn powered GoKart! Fortunately for us, we were able to have one of our first encounters with a DF Goblin kit car in person at Street Car Takeover in Atlanta, Georgia. Even more fortunately for us, we knew the owner as we’ve previously featured him on the channel before with his Saturn Ion Redline (and now you know why we bring up Saturn instead of the typical Cobalt platform for the DF Goblin application). That should also help identify why it’s no surprise to see this tiny 4 cylinder cranking out a familiar 500hp, however the catch here is that this kit car weighs just 1600lbs (that’s WITH the driver)! In addition to catching this zippy GoKart on it’s maiden voyage to the drag strip, we were able to sneak a ride in out on the highway (a very very very very windy ride). Hardware stores need to step their game up to compete with the UK’s innovation of what a Shed can be used for! Likely the most jaw-dropping, head-turning, and smile generating build we saw while at Santa Pod Raceway for the “The Main Event”, this “Shed” was what stole the show for us. Kevin built this AMAZING display of automotive creativity and uniqueness from a 4Motion Volkswagen Passat he had purchased for parts, but it ended up being too good of a car to scrap and there the story begins. Kevin built something which blurs the lines between passenger car and recreational vehicle but still retained the ability to be STREET LEGAL, and so it is! Kevin had a tough journey to get to this point, but he has absolutely earned the right to the title of “World’s Fastest Street Legal SHED!”. Aston Martin cars are a known to be an excellent fusion of sport and luxury, so hearing about an Aston Martin at the drag strip wouldn’t be totally unheard of. Seeing a 1-off Aston Martin drag car (that is street legal and registered) running 7 second passes with a custom body designed off a Aston Martin Virage with cues and taillights from the iconic Vantage platform, is something truly unique! This was one of the most exciting finds from 1320Video’s international trip to Santa Pod Raceway in the United Kingdom.
