Today I'm up riding in the Blackcomb terrain park and there are three small jumps which are perfect for working on these tricks. Make sure before you're confident with hitting the jump and doing grabs before attempting these spins. Everyone today is working on something different in there snowboard spins. Austin is working on riding switch into the takeoff so he can spin 180 and land regular. Tyler is in it to spin it and is going to huck whatever spin feel natural. TJ and myself are both working on getting our front and back 360 snowboard spins smooth. The snow that's falling is a great cushion for us to be attempting some of these tricks. For the snowboard spins we're focused on getting a level pop into the air and winding up to rotate the 180 or 360 around. For the backside board slides on the rail we're committing our weight over the center of the feature and landing level. We had a successful day of landing our snowboard spin and rail tricks. Over the week I had a great time making tutorial videos with TJ, Garrett and Chris. I wanted to quickly share with you guys my 10 favorite tricks from the week and give you the key tips for each trick. The first trick is snowboard spins with grabs. The key is to do a turn and grab your snowboard in the same direction as the spin. We covered a wide range of snowboard tricks on this trip from spins, grabs, rails and beginner tricks. We're going to share with you the three easiest grabs you can do with snowboard spins. The grab that I find the easiest to do with spins the mute grab. Melon grabs are great with backside and cab spins because you turn for the grab in the same direction you're rotating. The grab that TJ finds easiest with spins is a melon grab. Melon is when your grab your heel edge between the bindings with your front hand. Melon is a great grab with front side spins and to stop you from over spinning backside. Garrett's easiest grab with spins is the tail grab. Garrett and I both snowboard goofy, so we'll be spinning it the same direction. The four snowboard spins we will do are frontside, backside, switch backside and cab. The spin we do will determine our points and whoever has the most points after four spins is the winner! This challenge is a great way to practice these four different snowboarding spin tricks!
