When we first arrived in Japan the weather forecast was only calling for traces of snow. Luckily on our first day of snowboarding we woke up to over forty centimeters of fresh powder. The snow has continued to fall since we've arrived which peaked on this day when we got over another 40 centimeters for the most epic day of powder snowboarding yet. We also met up with our friend and fellow youtube snowboarder Casey Willax who's out here for the next month to make snowboard video. So far this has been our best snowboard trip to Japan and we're feeling super thankful for the snow. This is a trick that TJ has landed many times and I get some advice from him on the trick. To prepare for this trick I do some 360's, 5050's on the rail and 180's off the rail. The terrain park is called the flow park and has lots of great features to practice new tricks. The snow for spring snowboarding is also very soft and forgiving. The problem with the soft snow is that it can also be very slow and not allow you to get enough speed for the tricks. I'm snowboarding today with my friend Shu from Snowboard Dojo Wiz. The first tip for dropping cliff is to spot the landing and make sure the powder is deep enough. Make sure you also don't land in another snowboarders landing spot. The second tip is to give yourself a few feet of space before the cliff to point your snowboard straight. This will allow you to get balanced over your snowboard before he cliff. The third tip is land the cliff with more weight toward the tail of your snowboard. This will stop you from catching your nose and rolling forward. Shu's bonus tips are to visualize your landing before hitting the cliff drop. Also, throw a snowball off the cliffs edge to calculate how long you'll be in the air. Be safe while snowboarding and doing cliff drops and make sure to wear a helmet. Flaine, France. it had been snowing all night, and we woke to bluebird skies and about 500mm of fresh powder on the mountain. Snowboarding Nirvana. The crevasse was only a few hundred yards off piste, and pretty much completely covered, invisible until i was right on it, and I wasn't quick enough to avoid it. My son Jack was a hero, tried to free me at first, and did not hesitate to raise the alarm and get help. Three english doctors that we had just passed on the mountain came to my rescue, took care of Jack, and helped dig me out. I am eternally grateful to you.
