We've officially made it through Day 4 of Hot Rod Drag Week 2021 and we're thrilled to see so many racers have too. Drag Week wouldn't be complete without some gnarly burnouts on the road, and boy did the racers come through today! 1st place goes to the Diesel C10 pickup that laid down THREE insane rolling burnouts, pushing it's Cooper mud tires up to 240mph (wheel speed) and holding it for OVER a 1/4 mile! This event was all about traction - or lack there of rather. High horsepower cars on a bare asphalt surface is basically a recipe for an "Australian style" drag race..LOTS of tire smoke and burnt rubber! That didn't stop some racers from figuring out how to put the power down. Additional weight, less boost, and a LOTS of peddling seemed to be the key to success this weekend! This was one skid we'll never forget. "Convkt", the tire-shredding, 1000hp, blown VK Commodore put on a show at Powercruise 2020 for nearly 2 minutes straight! Without stopping the skid ONCE. What more could we ask for? We even got an accidental "encore" when the throttle cable came loose on the return road, causing him to skid the entire way down! He calls it OVERKILL - We call it PERFECT! Yes, There are TWO Turbos AND a Blower! By now, the whole world knows that Aussies don’t mess around when it comes to CRAZY and over the top, but this was pretty wild even for them! We caught Ben and his BADASS Boost Factory he bolted in between the wheels of a 1976 Ford Cortina! Stoked and ready to ROCK, Ben was preparing for his first Skid ever at Summernats while also hoping to break his current personal best skid of 14 seconds! Built from the motivation of being told he’d never get it to work, it was a particularly proud time as he showed off he CRAZY build! All show and PLENTY of go, this 1976 Ford Cortina laid down a nasty skid until a mechanical issue cut the run short. KING VH - This Guy’s Attitude is AWESOME - No Handicap Here! We couldn’t believe they opened the door and pulled out a wheelchair for this guy after seeing this Blown Holden Commodore VH throw down a NASTY Flame-throwing SKID! Checking back in on our 2nd journey down unda for Summernats 31 at Exhibition Park in Canberra, we were in an even crazier time than last! Luckily we were able to catch up with him at Sydney Dragway a few days later at another skid event before him and his mate headed back to the other side of the country!
