Cube Controls recently released their most high-end steering wheel yet, the GT-X, featuring a plethora of buttons, rotary encoders and paddles, as well as an integrated feature rich 4.3inch Ultimate Game Tech display.

At €1,736.00 Inc. VAT it's certainly not cheap though, so does it stand up to the price tag and is it really as good as it looks?

Over 18 months ago now I put together a video showing how to use an old smartphone as a digital dash, but if you want true plug and play, a dedicated screen is the go.

While there are plenty of much cheaper options on the market that admittedly offer the same functionality, many people just want the best, and to my surprise, this ended up being a much more "active" device than I had anticipated. Particularly when used in conjunction with the Z1 Dashboard software.

So let's take a look!

How to make a Digital Dash for Racing Simulators using Sim Hub and an Old Smartphone

For some games, it's absolutely critical to be able to see other vital statistics such as ERS charge, Engine Mode, etc.

In this video I show you how you can set up a realistic looking and highly functional digital gauge system using free software (Sim Hub) and an old Smartphone or Tablet.

The game I used as an example is F1 2018, but the same basic process applies to many popular sim racing games such as Assetto Corsa Competizione, Automobilista 2, iRacing, rFactor2, Dirt 4, etc.
