Roll racing isn’t exactly everyones favorite class, but it can certainly be an insanely entertaining one! Especially when every racer is at a disadvantage thanks to the mile high elevation air density of Bandimere Raceway in Denver Colorado. Streetcar Takeovers Roll Racing classes are usually full of surprises, but we had no idea we were going to see several UGR Lambo’s and high horsepower GTR’s show up to compete, making our morning much more interesting! Streetcar Takeover Denver @ Bandimere Speedway is a MASSIVE event that never fails to deliver new badass builds and drivers! Bandimere is a BEAUTIFUL track which is all the more fitting for the gorgeous old school trucks (and some new!) that entered Streetcar Takeover’s drag truck class. From a bright yellow C-10 housing a sleek & stout twin-turbo LS setup all the way down to an all-motor 1944 Ford pick-up capable of clicking off consistent 8 second passes, this class had it all! The truck class is not typically one where we see this level of competition, making it one we couldn’t stop our excitement for. Saturn is not a name you hear much in the automotive world since they shut down years back, but even more rare is hearing about a street legal 500hp Saturn powered GoKart! Fortunately for us, we were able to have one of our first encounters with a DF Goblin kit car in person at Street Car Takeover in Atlanta, Georgia. Even more fortunately for us, we knew the owner as we’ve previously featured him on the channel before with his Saturn Ion Redline (and now you know why we bring up Saturn instead of the typical Cobalt platform for the DF Goblin application). That should also help identify why it’s no surprise to see this tiny 4 cylinder cranking out a familiar 500hp, however the catch here is that this kit car weighs just 1600lbs (that’s WITH the driver)! In addition to catching this zippy GoKart on it’s maiden voyage to the drag strip, we were able to sneak a ride in out on the highway (a very very very very windy ride). FOUR SLICK + TWIN TURBOS = 1200hp LSXcalade! This is the fastest Escalade in the world as far as ourselves & Mitchell are aware! Starting off as his Dad’s work commuter, Mitchell took a hand-me-down college cruiser and spiced it up with an LS-A blower. While his dad may or may not have noticed a little extra pep behind the peddle, Mitchell sure did as he took the cozy Cadillac and competed at Hot Rod’s “Drag Week” a few years ago! Obviously Mitchell was bit by the mod bug as we can see here today, this is no average Escalade anymore! Mitchell has taken the years since and re-worked this meticulous monster inside and out to create a seriously impressive SUV! Pushing ALL of the Boost you can through a 98mm sounds like a good time, until you realize it’s still running a stock block! This turbo 6.0l Trans-Am wasn’t showing any signs of giving up though, as it powered through two classes all the way to the finals! Which is even more impressive considering that meant having to hot lap the car all night to compete in both classes.
