Ken Block is an inspiration to all petrolheads, a guy that could do almost anything with a car - insane control, total bravery and unbelievable skill. There were so many aspects to his professional life - shoe designer, world rally driver, X games competitor, designer of EPIC cars and YouTube sensation. For me personally - he wasn’t just a true racer, he was a pioneer of motorsport content creation and showed us all what was possible. So we’re going to go over his life, show what made him so great as well as some of his INCREDIBLE cars. You may know Ken Block from watching the WRC, the Dirt franchise of video games or the incredible Gymkhana videos - but Ken Block actually started out in life wanting to be a skateboarder - growing up in Long Beach, California. But once his family moved to San Diego or the ‘middle of nowhere’ as he called it, he started to mess around with dirt bikes. This would start his obsession with extreme sports that would define his life. ???? What’s faster in a drag race… an 85 horsepower Superkart, or a 710 horsepower Ferrari? This is the battle of power vs weight, with the Ferrari weighing almost 10 times what the Superkart does! We run these two cars through four challenges: a standing quarter-mile, a rolling quarter-mile, 0-100-0mph acceleration and brake test and finally, our favourite, the Moose Test. This Ferrari 488 Pista has 710 horsepower and 770-newton metres of torque. It only has one engine, which is a 3.9 litre twin-turbo V8. It has a 7-speed, dual-clutch paddle-shift gearbox and weighs 1280 kg. With all the bells and whistles, this Pista cost £350,000. The Ferrari is up against a Division 1 Superkart, it has 85 horsepower and weighs just over 200kg with the driver. It has a 2-stroke 250cc engine, driving the rear wheels through a 6-speed sequential gearbox. You can pick up a superkart for as little as £8,000. ???? Are you a car expert?
