The Rotary shifter kart (powered by a Hercules W2000 wankel motor) had been in storage since the last video we did with it of hitting the top speed. The clutch had failed at the end of the video due to the clutch pushrod welding itself to the ball bearings and eating through the lever arm. We had found a hydraulic clutch on ebay for a Harley that had the same size diameter for the pushrod, and it ended up working better than we expected! We also changed the gearing to get us some better top speed! Today the rotary moves under its own power for the first time! This rotary go kart is powered by a 1975 Hercules W2000 motorcycle and is a complete monster for this small go kart frame! In order to get this thing moving under its own power, we needed to add brakes, throttle, clutch, fuel system, battery box, ignition system, and a chain tensioner. While it doesn't seem like much, it took us hours to get everything working properly and doing its job. With this, towards the end of the video we were able to start this engine for the first time on the shifter kart frame and we are more than excited to get to ripping this thing!
