This is a brief look at what my 2022 has looked like so far. My driving duties came to a halt after 2021 reached a climax at the SKUSA SuperNationals, and since then I've been slowly working towards being able to race again. I went to the SKUSA Winter Series as a mechanic for Alex Dancho, the first two rounds of USPKS as a mechanic for Max Taylor, and to Challenge of the Americas as a coach for Christian Bird Racing. During the early stages of the year, I spent much of my time preparing to race at the opening USPKS weekend at Orlando Kart Center, only for some unfortunate circumstances to eliminate those plans merely three days before I was due to travel to Orlando. I still went to the race, albeit as a mechanic, but it was a heart-wrenching turn of events and was the low point of the year so far. Since then, however, things have been on an upward trend and I'm hopeful that a return to the national scene as a driver will be on the cards fairly soon. There is no question that this is the end of the line for the Honda Stock Moto engine; it's been great for many years, but now, with introduction of both the Rok and KZ engines, the Honda is just outdated. Like many folks who are looking at the Shifter/KZ class, I also wonder about the difference in performance. Difficult for many racers ... mounting tires can be easily done with the proper tools and instruction. I've seen several different methods over the years. You can find many videos on YouTube of different techniques. Here is how I have been beading tires for nearly 20 years with only success. New tires can be easily stretched out of form by improper over-inflation during the beading process. Use a glass cleaner that dries quickly and doesn't have left over residue. Remounting used tires may not need any lubricant as the side walls lose rigidity.
