Rally International du Valais is one of the most epic looking rallies I have ever taken part in - it goes right through the Swiss Alps!! It was the perfect place to bring my Ford Escort RS Cossie V2 through many tight hairpins and even through some of the of the most famous Ski Resorts in the world! Due to my Cossie being modified, Alex Gelsomino and I weren't able to compete in the Historic class (FIA Regulated Rally), we ran as a zero car. We are back in Europe to do one of my favorite things ever… drive legendary Audi race cars! But this time we’re driving on ice to prepare for the upcoming GP Ice Race. We met up with our friend @jpperformance in Munich, Germany and cruised an Audi e-tron GT all the way down to to the Zell am See airport in Austria. Why? ​@RamTrucks gave me a new and unreleased version of their 2022 TRX: the Sandblast Edition! It’s like a supercar built for dirt, so let’s just call it a supertruck. Ridiculously comfortable luxury interior stacked with a 702 horsepower 6.2L supercharged Hemi engine, what more could you ask for? Maybe some suspension travel and frosty air conditioning? It has both of those things and plenty more. Naturally I wanted to test the limits of this new unreleased TRX so I decided to take it to Johnson Valley where they hold the annual King of the Hammers race to put it through the paces. And by paces I mean whoops, donuts, jumps, dune slides and a little Gymkhana too. After debuting my Audi Sport Quattro replica “Turbo Monster” last year in Hoonigan’s RING LEADERS (https://youtu.be/Gufm5H4hZi0) and at SEMA in Toyo Tires booth, we had a long year of fine tuning some details in the car: from a custom exhaust from Borla for the 730+ horsepower inline-5 turbo engine, to fine tuning hand-brake location, and even registering the car complete with the custom CARCAIN(E) license plate. NOW we‘re finally able to give the Sport Quattro its first proper test at Willow Springs Raceway in Southern California. Full throttle pulls, i5 turbo exhaust sound music-to-ear science (thanks again Borla), handbrake slides, figure 8's, donuts, tire smoke (and a wheel lockup issue); the stress gets put on. After all, the goal here is to have a reliable (and hoon-capable; because when’s the last time I didn’t Hoon Test anything I drive regularly??) daily driver. Enjoy!! My 15-year-old daughter Lia got her drag racing license before she could even apply for her learner’s permit. Even though she’s cleared to launch the 1,400hp Hoonicorn she can’t drive herself to school! But that's about to change cuz in October Lia will turn 16 and get her driver’s license — so she’s gonna need a STREET-LEGAL daily! Lia is learning firsthand how much work (and PATIENCE!) restoring and building an '80s-era rally legend is!
