Today we drive the rotary shifter go cart on the street! This rotary go kart is powered by a 1975 Hercules W2000 motorcycle and is a complete monster for this small go kart frame! In order to get this thing all finished up we first needed to install a custom steering wheel and 3d printed badges. This kart is also rocking the 787b Renown livery of the 1991 Le Mans car. While it doesn't seem like much, it took us hours to get everything up to spec. After it was ready to go, we took it out to some abandoned roads and really let it get up to speed! While we were driving we unfortunately lost the clutch, we think that there was a metal ball in the clutch rod that got welded to the push rod itself. Hopefully we can find the parts we need to get this thing back on the road! This week in our homemade shifter kart build, we hear the Lifan 200cc engine run for the first time! Engine wiring, CDI problems, installing an electrical fuel pump, ignition and starter switches has been tricky, but hearing our racing kart fire up for the first time made it all worth it. We're waiting for the drag strip to open for the season, so we're starting a new project in the meantime. A 200cc four stroke 16 horsepower engine with a 5 speed transmission and electric start. We're putting the Lifan on my "9 reasons to buy an old go kart" kart that had been wrecked, pushed to the side, and parts robbed. The kart chassis, a Phantom Racing Chassis Gauntlet, is getting a mild restoration as well, with touch up paint, new floors, and rust repair. Thanks for Watching! Here's our built from scratch go kart with homemade shifter kart frame with some home depot pipe and a harbor freight welder. We put a lot of time into this project and took a lot of pictures so we figured it would be cool to put it into a video. Kart has a predator 212cc motor with a comet torque converter and 11x6.00-6 Maxxis Tires on it.
