No Prep racing brings about some of the wildest and unique moments we get to see out at the track all year long. Winter Meltdown held true to our expectations as racers battled every variation of difficulty down the lanes of Houston Raceway Park! From Jason Cantu’s half track wheelie to Flaco trying to tame his pickup, “TOXIC” and make a straight pass down the lane, there was no shortage of excitement to be had. This gorgeous C5 Corvette has been around our local Drag Strip for years now. It looks the same as before on the outside, but it's a completely different car on the inside. Eric ditched the old 6.0L block and replaced it with a 427lsx, and added a MASSIVE crank driven Procharger. A 2-speed Powerglide has taken place of the 4l60 transmission, and a Holley Dominator has replaced the stock ECU. Though Eric wouldn't tell us exactly how much power the car is making..he did inform us that he nearly DOUBLED the horsepower! Which was immediately apparent, as he trapped 148mph in the EIGTH mile after a few passes down the drag strip. That's impressive! With the looming constraints of time, the Texas Streets are often where new builds get debuted. Racers squeezing in last minute modifications (or in this case, an extra power adder!) just so they can lay claim to their section of the Texas Streets. This particular racer ran his time down to the wire, showing up with a fresh new setup on his Viper completed only hours beforehand. Laying down a cool 1067whp from a beautiful fifth generation Dodge Viper, this racer came prepared with a proper street car setup. Manageable, yet affordable power from a procharger, mated to Vipers 8.4 liter 10-cylinder engine delivering bold power smoothly across the board. Atlanta Streets are always a full of surprises and eager racers ready to line up! Pairing up a 720hp NISMO GT-R against a 1,000hp TT Porsche for $500 was a shocking upset and starts this video off right. Additionally, this 1700hp TSM built Nissan GT-R was not afraid to go out for a spirited run against a liter-bike and make several shocking passes as he reels in a bike that most cars would struggle to keep up with. He Traded His JET BOAT for THIS? What do you do when you’re looking for a new engine for your car and you’re not really into your Jet Boat at the moment? Trade it with a buddy for his old engine, of course. That is, if you buddy is Tom Bailey and he’s got his old 540 c.i. Steve Morris built racing engine laying around with no use for i! Not only does this 8 second “low boost” monster have a legendary power plant, it also has a jaw dropping paint job that commands your eyes to it on every pass. Apparently it’s a layer of “Apple Red” over a “Satin Black” that leads to this DEEP pearly paint that looks like it’s soaking wet! Apparently, an 8-second Mazda wasn’t enough, so Rick ditched the old small-block Chevy motor, and swapped it out with a nice 555 cubic inch Chevy big-block motor.
