TX2K21 was full of hidden gems, one of which was David Mazzei’s “Formula Seven” 4-Rotor monster! This car is UNBELIEVABLE in EVERY radical way, especially when it comes to the exhaust note. As shocking as one turbo 4-Rotor is, it goes to show what an incredible opportunity it was to find TWO of them in the same parking lot. This is a truck we haven’t seen in a LONG time! As soon as we laid eyes on it in the pits of Winter Meltdown at Houston Raceway Park, we walked straight over to check it out. The truck still has a massive single turbo setup but with more modern components than when we last saw. FOUR SLICK + TWIN TURBOS = 1200hp LSXcalade! This is the fastest Escalade in the world as far as ourselves & Mitchell are aware! Starting off as his Dad’s work commuter, Mitchell took a hand-me-down college cruiser and spiced it up with an LS-A blower. While his dad may or may not have noticed a little extra pep behind the peddle, Mitchell sure did as he took the cozy Cadillac and competed at Hot Rod’s “Drag Week” a few years ago! This Mazdaspeed is no joke, turbo 4-cylinder madness! Pulling into the lanes of Street Car Takeover’s Bristol event at Tennessee’s “Thunder Valley” dragway, this speed demon hatchback entered into the Mild Street Roll Race class AND the Front Wheel Drive Drag Race class! Mostly making passes looking for crucial tuning data, the owner and his Mazdaspeed 3 had a great time making pass after pass. Enjoying a bit more “spirited” driving in the brand new Audi RS3 we rode out in after a detour at Pannhorst Classics, (where we drooled over an unfathomable wealth of rare European classics for a few hour)s, we found ourselves back at our original destination, Ladermanufaktur. Housing a virtually spotless facility full of new, worn down, or completely destroyed arrays of turbos and parts, this small shop specializes in packing a strong competitive advantage into turbocharger applications through precision parts and tweaks! We were fortunate enough to see the process in action as they fired up some of the machines for us to show us how compressor and turbine wheels are balanced and trimmed to remove vibrations all the way up to 120,000RPMS! Seeing the high level of care and precision Ladermanufaktur applies to their turbocharger applications and facility, we can easily see why they are so busy! Never Judge a Wagon by its RUST, This Wagon is SICK! Richie Crampton knew EXACTLY what he wanted when he set his sights on a build for Hot Rod’s Drag Week! Taking 8 months of spare time and some help from close friends, Richie took this old Chevrolet wagon and made it a truly unique build! Taking everything 10 steps too far, this GORGEOUS patina’d nova has more chassis and tire than the car may ever need! Clicking off low 8 second passes left and right, this car was making 8’s look easy! Unfortunately, Richie is also a Pro NHRA Driver and had to depart from Drag Week early in order to compete in a pro race by the end of the week.
