The King of the Carpathians extends his reign over the World’s Toughest Hard Enduro Rallye, Red Bull Romaniacs, with a sensational 7th win at the age of 47. After a stunning ride on Day 3, Graham Jarvis put a comfortable lead to his closest rival Teodor Kabakchiev, +15m44s. All he had to do on the final day was to avoid any mistake and nurture his Husky to the finish line. The GOAT did well and finished the day with P5, only 7m behind Teodor, which was the mark of the Victory. Teodor Kabakchiev proved himself to be a serious contender and made it to the P2 podium spot before some of the finest factory riders. The Bulgarian privateer scored his best ever Romaniacs venture by finishing it 8m32s behind the victor. Mario Roman was in a fight for a better podium spot and finished the day ahead of Teodor but it was just not enough the gain an extra position. The Spaniard completed the podium with +13m26s to Graham. This became his 2nd consecutive P3 at the Carpathians. At the Silver Class, Chris Birch clinched a tight victory with only 1m26s ahead of Fabien Poirot and enjoyed the podium spot with a cheer of champagne. Matthias Walkner’s Romaniacs journey also ended with a podium spot at the Bronze Class. He a P3 with his chunky KTM 450 Rally. Hard Enduro World Championship moved to North America for Rd6 TKO in US and for Rd7 Outliers in Canada. We were not able to follow up these two but will be in Spain for the last round, Hixpania Hard Enduro. After the riders spent the night at the Ranca Ski resort off road Day 3 of the Red Bull Romaniacs 2022 took start above the clouds, 2000 meters of altitude, with a fast grass section ahead at the early stages. Graham Jarvis got his second Day’s win of the Romaniacs 2022 and stretched his lead as the GOAT edges to his historic 7th win of the toughest Hard Enduro Rallye. With no hope of winning the race, Manuel Lettenbichler tried to recover as much places as possible and the German came in P2 for the day. Championship leader now sits in P6 overall. Mario Roman was another hot start of the day. Spaniard got caught by Michael Walkner early in the day but the duo fired each other than and made some time against Teodor Kabakchiev which wasn’t enough to pass him at the overall ladder. There were three retirements from the race on Day 3. The City Prologue top two Alfredo Gomez and Taddy Blazusiak retired at the service point. Taddy complained about the wrist and felt its unnecessary to push further through this intense racing. Alfredo’s food poisoning had gone worse and broke his physical condition to continue. Off-road Day 2 at the Red Bull Romaniacs 2022 was started with an early morning shower which was to add some spice to the competition but it didn’t last long and we were back at dusty conditions again. Title defender Manuel Lettenbichler, whose hopes of winning the race were battered with a 2h time penalty on Day 1, started the day from 17th place. The German rode an blistering pace though out the day and came out on top by clearing more than 16 minutes to his closest rival for the day, Graham Jarvis. With the fact that Mani is out of the picture, Graham Jarvis had to focus on Teodor Kabakchiev and Mario Roman without getting into trouble. The GOAT got the job done by coming in faster than both behind Mani, P2. He stretched his overall lead to more than 9 minutes against Kabakchiev. It was the young Bulgarian who completed the top 3 for the day and kept his overall P2 position. The breaking news of the day was Alfredo Gomez’s food poisoning. The Spaniard explained the situation via an Instagram post saying that something he had for dinner the previous day affected him badly. He wasn’t able to sleep or have something to eat all day long and received medical aid. Chris Birch’s P1 performance on Day 2 brought him the overall lead by one minute at the Silver Class. The training session of the Red Bull Abestone 2022 was as hard as the main race's itself and in the given time all riders tested their settings and skillets. Round 3 at the FIM World Hard Enduro Championship was the Red Bull Erzbergrodeo and duty number one was the 10KM Iron Road Prologue. Prologue Heat 1 was on Friday and the track was wet from the rain that region received over night. More than 900 riders took the mission and tried their best to get qualified for the Hare Scramble. Heat 2 was on the next day and because the track dried up, we had a completely different story. Most of the riders couldn’t achieve a better rhythm because of the dry and loose track. Sonny Goggia shocked everyone and set a really competitive time in those conditions. He completed the day on top but over all top 3 was from the Heat 1. Dieter Rudolf took only one shot and it was on Friday’s Heat one. The Austrian set a competitive time and secured his first row start position, P16 - 07:25,495. 934 riders lined up for a 2-day Erzbergrodeo 2022 Iron Road Prologue session at the Erzbergrodeo 2022, Round 3 of the FIM’s World Hard Enduro Championship. All riders were to take at least one heat on the 10KM track around the Iron Giant where they enjoyed the crazy fast straights, hill climbs and drifty hair pin turns. Heat 1 served a better condition to riders because the track was half wet and was easy to find better grip. The difference among the track conditions between Heat 1 and 2 were so dire, only a small number of riders improved their times left from Heat 1. Kailub Russell and Dominik Olszowy were riding on a different level and the American was only able to clinch it by a nose, 0.071 seconds. Kyle Flanagan completed the trio with a fantastic P3. This was South African’s second race in two years, he was basically a tourist there but a fast one. Italy’s Sonny Goggia was the Heat 2’s winner and one of the very few to improve the time from Heat 1. It wasn’t enough to place him among the top 3 but worth a shout, he got P4. FIM World Hard Enduro Championship action resumed with Rd3 Red Bull Erzbergrodeo 2022 and we witnessed one of the most extreme Hare Scramble ever, if not the most. After being cancelled for two consecutive years, in 2020 & 2021, due to global pandemic it was wonderful to see all fans and riders showed up for a great racing experience. Hare Scramble, Main Race, took start at 14:30 CEST and 50 pax whole shot lines broke in towards the Iron Giant. KTM’s Manuel Lettenbichler took a perfect start and kept himself in the leading group of the first whole-shot till the hills and that helped him avoiding early traffic jams into the race. The young German then rode a great pace and brought the victory home for the team. The one and only struggle point was the CP22 Motorex Highway but he managed to keep calm and pass through in the end. It was Mario Roman who came in P2. The Spaniard made some damage repair at the Overall Championship ladder especially after the P10 result in Serbia, Rd2 Xross Hard Enduro Rally. Trystan Hart’s Erzbergrodeo 2022 journey was the most exiting one among the podium contenders. Canadian got in and out of the leading group but the last major mistake he did before Carl’s Dinner almost wiped his possible podium expectations. Keeping it tight and focused Trystan made a huge job through Carl’s Dinner and came out 3rd. Erzbergrodeo 2022 made its comeback after three years of missing and the 4-day hard enduro festival was crowned with an iconic Red Bull Erzbergrodeo 2022 Hare Scramble edition. The extreme enduro supreme was crippled and cancelled both in 2020 and 2021 which carried the expectations even further. Racing week started with Rocket Ride prologue and finals on Thursday. It then continued with the Iron Road prologue heat one on Friday and Heat 2 on Saturday. The fastest 500 were qualified to line up for Hare Scramble on Sunday. The main race of the 26th edition of Erzbergrodeo, Hare Scramble, took off at 14:30 CEST and the battle began. Manuel Lettenbichler had a great start and avoided the traffic very early in the race. The German then rode a flawless pace all alone till CP22, AKA Motorex Highway. When Mani arrived to the newly introduced section it was more then 8 minutes clearance against his closest rival, Mario Roman. Arriving there first without and prior race line, he struggled a lot and ended up having Mario on his tail. Letti was the first to clear CP22 and after that it was basically the Dynamite which could cause problems. He kept his calm and continued without making any mistakes and brought the victory home for the Team. Manuel & Andreas Lettenbichler became the only Father-Son duo to win it in Erzberg, Andreas Lettenbichler won it in 2015. The German also got his second consecutive win in the championship after missing Round 1, Minus 400, and put himself in the P3 at the overall classification of World Hard Enduro Championship, 40pts. Mario Roman was another one coming from an injury from Xross Hard Enduro Rally and he wasn’t fully recovered from it. Spaniard was on a roll despite all and had a great day on the bike. After winning Minus 400 Desert Extreme, he got himself another podium in Round 3, P2. Trystan Hart completed the podium and made history of being the first Canadian on the podium in Erzberg. He had his ups and downs throughout the race and even dropped to P8 before Carl’s Dinner but it didn’t take long to recover those positions and more back. After three days of racing, we finally reached to the last day at the 2nd round of FIM World Hard Enduro Championship 2022 Season, Xross Hard Enduro Rally. Riders fought back and forth starting from Straight Rhythm Prologue and through Offroad Day 1-2. Manuel Lettenbichler was the one on top of the leader board with a comfortable gap, +8m, and all he had to is to stick to his pace one more day. The German admitted that he came here without any expectation but after Day 2 he found himself leading and that changed the mood. Letti had yet another great riding without any trouble and crowned his comeback with a victory. Theodor Kabakchiev proved himself to be a serious contender to the factory riders and got a stunning podium appearance with a P2. Young Bulgarian now sits in P3 at the championship standings after a P6 at Rd1 Minus 400 and a P2 here in Serbia, 27Pts. 47 years old GOAT Graham Jarvis was the one who completed the podium. Coming back from a major knee injury and becoming a privateer, the Brit still has it and he now leads the WHEC standing with Billy Bolt, 30 Pts each. Xross was also the 1st round of the newly announced integrated World Hard Enduro Junior Championship. South African Matt Green was the one who topped the points at the first round with an overall P10. He was followed by Britain’s Mitch Brightmore, P14, and Israel’s Suff Sella, P15. Championship moves to Austria for Round 3 Erzbergrodeo, 16-19 June. On Offroad Day 2 at the Xross Hard Enduro Rally riders again had a 100km route to cover in pursuit of their fortune at the FIM World Hard Enduro Championship 2022 season. The course had three different specials for the day and as to the post-race rider comments the first half of the day war more extreme than the second. Defending WHEC champion and the current leader from the Offroad Day 1, Billy Bolt struggled a lot. Early in the stage he broke his clutch master cylinder and had to ride using all four fingers till the service point. Brit then fixed the issue but then admitted he had nothing left when he reached to the last technical sector and couldn’t push further. He finished P7 with falling 26 minutes behind the day’s winner, Manuel Lettenbichler. Mani had and excellent day after having P4 at Offroad Day 1 and showed some muscle. The German felt great on the bike than he expected and kept pushing further till the end. He was followed by Theodor Kabakchiev who had yet another blistering day among the factory guys. It was Sherco’s Wade Young who completed the top 3 for the day. South African’s fight with his back pain continued and had to spent too much time sitting on the bike which still was not enough to keep him not having the fun. He was happy with the result and carried the hope to Offroad Day 3. The action at the FIM World Hard Enduro Championship moved to Serbia for the Rd 2 Xross Hard Enduro Rally and all the eyes were on Manuel Lettenbichler as the German made his comeback after recovery from the injury. After Day 1’s Straight Rhythm prologue riders lined up for the real deal on Offroad Day 1 where a 100km single track laid through Tara Mountain. Round 1 Minus 400 Desert Extreme winner and championship leader Mario Roman had a bad day of racing due to an early crash he had which then turned out that he broke his toe. The Spaniard kept continuing and did his best and finished the day with P7, ahead of his team mate Wade Young. WHEC title defender Billy Bolt rode with a great pace and grouped with Mani from time to time, finished the day on top. Theodor Kabakchiev was on fire through the day and enjoyed his pace as the Bulgarian played catch with the leading group and hanged there. Theodor finished the day with P2 ahead of the Day’s other surprise Michael Walkner, P3. Racing weekend started with the Day 1's endurocross action on Friday and continued with Day 2 action, the city prologue. City prologue victor was Mario Roman.
