The addition of the DCT class at GTR World Cup 2021 caught the attention of many racers, resulting in many new builds debuting at the event. This change appears to have been well received as it provided an event for many racers hindered by the clutches of a frigid winter. While Jason Heffner doesn’t fall into that category from the warmth of Florida, he had other obstacles to overcome in order to compete in this new class. One being that he hadn’t purchased the car yet, and when he made the decision to pull the trigger on one, the event was only a month away. When we he told us that we were almost certain the Heffner Twin Turbo decals were simply for show. It only took one pass to see that he wasn’t kidding, and he and his team did in fact pull it off! George Dodworth is a staple, a hero, and a legend in the GTR community, and after this event he can tack “pioneer” onto his GTR resumè. George made the bold decision to convert his 2009 Nissan GTR (which is famously AWD), into a 2-wheel-drive only setup for GTR World Cup 2021. While you’ll really just have to watch the video to understand the rollercoaster of events that transpired, we can expect that this change will be received with mixed emotions. Sacrilegious to some but exciting for others, regardless George and T1R are taking the inevitable steps required to catapult this platform farther and farther into uncharted territory. George knew it would be a gamble, and at this power level there is no such thing as “things just working right”, but we are happy to say that we are absolutely impressed by what we’ve seen so far. We are very curious to see where the data they gather leads, and we are hoping that TX2K21 sets the stage for some untapped potential! Twin Turbo Plymouth VIP from FINLAND! These guys are some of the craziest and most dedicated racers we saw at Hot Rod Magazines "Drag Week”! These guys shredded Turbo’s, Cylinder Head’s, and MULTIPLE Transmissions! Dealing with some of the most inconvenient and stressful obstacles not once, but multiple times each…they definitely took the cake when it came to hard work and dedication! Janne Uskali shipped over his 1967 Plymouth VIP from Finland may not have been the most financially rewarding situation, but with all the supports from fans and co-racers alike, they finished out the grueling week of torture with smiles and some incredible memories! Back in Finland, this was the first registered street car to pull off a 7 second 1/4 mile! Unfortunately the team was unable to finish Drag Week, but they stuck around and made exhibition passes on the last day and partied with racers and fans alike, ending the week on a positive note!
