Fine Tuning Turbos..at 120,000 RPM!! (Germany: EP-5). Enjoying a bit more “spirited” driving in the brand new Audi RS3 we rode out in after a detour at Pannhorst Classics, (where we drooled over an unfathomable wealth of rare European classics for a few hour)s, we found ourselves back at our original destination, Ladermanufaktur. Housing a virtually spotless facility full of new, worn down, or completely destroyed arrays of turbos and parts, this small shop specializes in packing a strong competitive advantage into turbocharger applications through precision parts and tweaks! We were fortunate enough to see the process in action as they fired up some of the machines for us to show us how compressor and turbine wheels are balanced and trimmed to remove vibrations all the way up to 120,000RPMS! Seeing the high level of care and precision Ladermanufaktur applies to their turbocharger applications and facility, we can easily see why they are so busy! Not only that, they were cool enough to save us a few days of riding in our rental Skoda by letting us borrow a baller diesel work van that we put to the test as we got back on the Autobahn and headed for the RACE1000 1/2 Mile! Audi RS3 Wagon Takes Us For a Spin! (You won’t believe where we end up!) Germany is raising the bar for quality of service & presentation (along with general hospitality) as we end up taking strolls through beautiful collections of cars daily! Not only did we detour from our initial pitstop in style by taking out a brand new Audi RS3 Wagon to stretch her legs a bit, we ended up taking a break from spirited runs by pulling up outside of the AMAZING Pannhorst Classics. These guys are truly professionals when it comes to passion in the work places as they house what seems like a never-ending wonderland of IMPECCABLE restorations & classic Euro auto’s for sale. Walking into the workshop (it’s so clean we thought it was the show floor) was the beginning of our jaw-dropping detour-to-tour adventure that blew our minds as each door opened brought us new treasures! DonkeyTec Kicks A$$ and a 650hp VR6 Corrado ride along sure helped put that into perspective! After wrapping up a shop tour and an inspiring ride in a CRAZY GAD Motors built SUV, Frank literally slid us straight into another shop tour with our friends at DonkeyTec! Specializing in Volkswagens, these guys really know what they are doing when it comes to the FWD VW and VR6 platforms. While their main course is currently VW/Audi, they are looking to expand their menu out to BMW and Lamborghini’s, neither of which are simple undertakings. Judging by how tame and radical this DonkeyTec turbo VR6 Volkswagen Corrado was, we can’t wait to see what impressive feats these guys accomplish in the future on some seriously badass cars! We could not BELIEVE how BADASS this Mercedes SUV sounded and performed! Continuing 1320Video’s tour through Germany, our guides Alex and Frank took us to a nearby shop that specializes in Mercedes-Benz performance and modification and they did not disappoint! Pulling up to finding a custom camo 6x6 out front and a TWIN Turbo SLS inside, the guys over at GAD definitely know the Mercedes brand and what to do with it! They invited us in and gave us a run down of the cars in the shop and shared their goals with each car at the upcoming RACE1000, as well as started up a symphony of twin turbo German v8’s inside the shop! To pull everything together the shop manager offered a ride along in a HIGHLY modified AMG GLC SUV, that just blew us away! The nimble suspension and the throaty roar of the 4.4 Liter engine battled our shock and surprise the entire drive as we struggled to decided which aspect was more impressive! Looks like Cleetus is getting attached to that Dodge Power-plant! Last month he took out a 1000hp Hellcat, and now he’s back with a 1400hp Jeep! The Bald Eagles were screaming all day long as Cleetus trolled Big Kleib into racing him in the SRT-8 rather than his c7! This 5,000lb tank might have been a little more than he was expecting as he blew through the traps at over 140mph in just over 10 seconds!
