With Gymkhana GRiD coming back to the U.S. later this year (which I really want to win) the fam and I went full DIY to create a course with all of the gnarly obstacles you'd typically find at a GRiD event, to help me stay in shape and keep my driving skills in peak form - using my Can-Am Maverick X3, a bunch of unique items found around the race shop, with my wife Lucy and our 3 kids as the entire film crew! Lake Powell is one of my favorite places on earth - it's got beachfront camping, giant cliffs, great trails, and amazing zones to boat and go wakeboarding in. BUT, I've never brought a Can-Am on one of these trips - so we packed up the Maverick X3 and found the perfect spot to post up with the house boat. Shredding Cam-Ams in the desert with my family is always rad. Throw pro drivers Leah Pruett (NHRA) and Tony Stewart (NASCAR) into the mix and it just gets that much more epic! The action in this week's episode is everything you would expect and more, with one person crashing (hint: while turning left) when they "run out of talent" (their own words, not mine) - while I send the biggest jump I’ve ever done in a CanAm. Swing Arm City is still one of my favorite places in the world to ride CanAm's, and I'm super stoked that Utah's national parks are open for us to enjoy the outdoors while still practicing social distancing - especially with these two champions! Tony Stewart is a three-time NASCAR Cup Series Champion (2002, 2005, and 2011) and co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing. Leah Pruett is an NHRA Factory Stock Showdown Champion, and one of the fastest women on the planet, still chasing victories in her Top Fuel dragster for Don Schumacher Racing. The ultimate Can-Am Maverick Max XRS Turbo RR (with Apache Backcountry LT track kit) walkaround at an epic location - a helipad in Nelson, British Columbia. I built this Apache-Tracked Can-Am to shred up at Baldface Lodge for a rad project (dropping next week!) with a few Pro DC riders in some of the best snowboarding backcountry around. Cole Shirley of Madram11 decided to do some short course racing with the Pro UTV Series during their 2016 Finals at West Georgia Mud Park. He started of the race in his own Polaris RZR XP 1000 and wrecked hard into the second turn. He collected his parts and headed back to the starting line. He wasn't done though. He hopped in Tripp Pullen's brand new Can Am Maverick X3 ro race the turbo class and proceeded to do the same thing in the same corner. Luckily it didn't do a ton of damage to either machine. The interview at the end is priceless. We hope this isn't the last time we see Cole out on the track. It looks like the Can Am Maverick X3 is pretty competitive vs the Polaris RZR XP Turbo. Can't wait to see some hill climb competition between these to machines.
