Racing at this intensity greatly increases the opportunity for brutal wrecks, terrifyingly close calls, and motivation-depleting engine failures which thankfully only resulted in damage to cars and property, and no racers were badly hurt thanks to the awesome response teams on site. After being featured here on 1320Video a few times, it was about time this Tiny, Turbo Toyota was properly named! Taking into consideration the number impressive accomplishments that have come from this little package pickup, it was easy for Fred to land on the “Loaded Taco”. Loaded with boost, power, and surprises this Toyota Taco is one of the last vehicles you’d expect to be intimidated by at a track. Entering into the True Street class again for 2019, this year the goal was to make it farther than the semi-finals and that’s exactly what happened. Granted there was certainly some luck involved, this achievement has been years in the making and was certainly hard earned! There is something special about getting to witness someones first time at Import vs Domestic’s: World Cup Finals, especially when they keep on surprising themselves! Adriana’s first generation Eagle Talon is a stout little rocket ship, but launches like it’s on ice skates and that makes it all the more impressive as she drives through a wild launch that many would have let out of. For a racer we haven’t met before, her skills on the tree and down the track continued to impress her as much as they did us! She showed up with the expectation of trying her hand at making a pass, and ended up taking her car through rounds! If her impressive little 4G63 hadn’t given out, we would have loved to see how far she could have made it through the true street class! George is back on 1320Video once more, but this time it’s for a pretty unfair reason. We can’t tell you why this seems to happen to GTR’s trying to run their first 6, but a Timing System FAIL on what should have been your first 6 second pass is the ultimate heartbreak for a racer chasing their goals. It seems no track or event is safe from the failures of electronic systems even at Maryland International Raceway for one of the largest events of the year, Import vs Domestic’s: World Cup Finals! Watching George’s heart drop was difficult, but fortunately for George, he didn’t get where he is today by giving up.
