Snowboarding | Alpe d'Huez | 360 Audio | Listen with Headphones! I've been working on incorporating true binaural audio into my snowboarding videos. Combating high wind speeds whilst riding has made this very difficult, but after a few prototypes I've come up with something that I think works well. Ski resorts here in France are still shut down. I hiked up for a quick sunset descent. Conditions got pretty icy after the first few minutes but it was still great fun. I'm working on a project to incorporate 360 binaural audio into these videos, it didn't work for this one, so the audio is just from the GoPro, but I've managed to figure it out now - so you'll be seeing (hearing!) it my upcoming videos. I've also managed to accurately track my speed and elevation using a Garmin Fenix sports watch, after having previously had mixed results with the GPS function on the GoPro. Thanks for joining me again for some virtual snowboarding from the comfort of your sofa! During this lockdown period I'm unable to go riding but have dug out some head-cam footage I took in February. This is one of my favourite runs in all of Alpe d'Huez because it is a super long and varied piste. It starts off from the top of the Marmotte 2 chairlift and begins on the black piste Clocher de Macle. Next it joins onto Red piste Lievre Blanc, then Blue run Couloir, and comes down towards the DMC lift on Green piste les Jeux. From here it is a short skate to the top of the final Blue piste Village, which takes you all the way down to Huez at 1500m. Let me know if you came to this video by searcing ASMR. ASMR is not something I knew anything about but I've had a few people tell me this is how they found the video, and that they found it relaxing! With all the resorts around the world closed down I originally thought I would be spending this period split boarding. But the government has issued strict guidelines urging people not to undertake any dangerous activities, which covers everything from surfing and cycling to skateboarding and surfing. Whilst this was a bitter pill to swallow at first,I now realize that it is so as not to put any additional strain on the health services. So here is some footage I shot a few weeks ago of the infamous Tunnel Piste here in Alpe d'Huez! The Tunnel Run is one of the steepest pistes in Europe, so steep in fact that the top section cannot even be pisted as the piste bashers can't get up there! It gets its name from the 200m long tunnel which is actually carved through the mountain from one side to the other. This makes for a really cool and unique ski run that I haven't seen anywhere else.
