What do you do when the racing season is still on hold and "stay at home" is the new norm? You find rad ways to get creative and build your own Gymkhana practice course with the whole family! With Gymkhana GRiD coming back to the U.S. later this year (which I really want to win) the fam and I went full DIY to create a course with all of the gnarly obstacles you'd typically find at a GRiD event, to help me stay in shape and keep my driving skills in peak form - using my Can-Am Maverick X3, a bunch of unique items found around the race shop, with my wife Lucy and our 3 kids as the entire film crew! Will It Drift? Good question, and we all know there's only one responsible way to find out! In this weeks episode, we take the 8,000 lb. Ford Super Duty F-450 Dually - and guest host, Hoonigan's very own "Mister Zachary" - back to UMC (Utah Motorsports Campus) for an afternoon of rowdy diesel-powered tire-shredding action. It may have taken a few tries to get things figured out, but the Hoonigan Racing Division's "workhorse" can definitely slay tires and we ultimately got what we came for ... so now it's someone else's turn to show us what they can do. It’s pretty crazy how fast things are changing day to day here in Utah. One week ago my family and I built a mini-Gymkhana GRiD practice course inside my Hoonigan Racing workshop (https://youtu.be/JolYdW9KkZk), and this week my daughter Lia and I are at an actual race track with an entire paddock to ourselves. With my ’78 Ford Escort Mk2 RS in tow, and an eager 13-year-old showing more interest in the finer art of HOONING, I thought that this would be the perfect opportunity to take advantage of the limited re-opening of UMC (Utah Motorsports Campus) for a day of GYM-Class, teaching Lia proper technique for doing donuts! And even though the RWD Gymkhana Escort may be one of the “easier” cars in my fleet to drive - she quickly learns that it’s not as easy as it looks - and you’ll have to watch the full episode to see how she does on her first time out!
