For a time, Snowboard SuperPipe became a “spin-to-win” competition, ushered in partly by Michigan snowboard upstart Danny Davis. Davis, who was the first snowboarder to land three double corks in a competition in 2010, reversed his course and chose instead to focus on style, creativity and originality. That reversal created a new revolution in the world of competitive snowboarding: balance between tricks and style. While some still focused on the spin, Danny Davis threw caution to the wind with the switch method heard round the world.
