With the 2020 snowboard season coming to an early close I thought it would be a good time and reflect on some of my top powder days of the season. Even though the snowboard season was short I managed to have some incredible powder days in Whistler, Stevens Pass and Japan. It was also incredible to share these powder days with TJ from Boardarchive, Chris Eyres, Daly and Casey Willax. I'll put links to the full snowboard vlog from all these powder snowboarding days. Thanks for watching!

In this snowboard video we're snowboarding in Niseko, Japan in possibly the worst winter season in decades. When we first arrived in Japan the weather forecast was only calling for traces of snow. Luckily on our first day of snowboarding we woke up to over forty centimeters of fresh powder. The snow has continued to fall since we've arrived which peaked on this day when we got over another 40 centimeters for the most epic day of powder snowboarding yet. We also met up with our friend and fellow youtube snowboarder Casey Willax who's out here for the next month to make snowboard video. So far this has been our best snowboard trip to Japan and we're feeling super thankful for the snow. Thank you for watching and I hope you're getting some great snow where you are!

In this snowboard video we arrive in Niseko Japan and have our first day of riding waist deep powder. The forecast wasn't calling for snow but once we arrived it snowed all night. We woke up to one of the deepest powder days snowboarding we've ever had in Japan. On this snowboard trip we're out with a large crew and for some it's their first time to Japan. Each of us has brought powder snowboard for the trip and we'll be putting them to good use here in Niseko, Japan. For more powder snowboard video from Japan make sure to like and subscribe. The tree's at Rusutsu resort in Japan are something special, and provided excellent terrain to test out the Gentemstick XY Snowboard. Throughout the day we were able to find copious amounts of powder, a variety of drops, and even a few tree jibs which is something we never really come across. The XY performed really well in these conditions providing excellent float and lots of stability. The board features a directional shape with a very long nose and short tail outside the contact points, a taper, setback stance, as well as a very wide shape; all of these features help give this board float. Gentemstick gave this board a full camber profile with a rockered nose, as well as a large sidecut radius to complement the width which also makes this snowboard very fun for carving. The biggest highlights for me on this snowboard is the combination of float and stability that it offers, and the fact that it is locally produced in Niseko. Let us know what you think in the comments, thanks for watching.

Japan has been coming through with some amazing snow, and today at Annupuri resort we found perfect conditions to test the Bataleon Surfer snowboard. We spent the whole day taking laps out gate G2 finding a variety of lines that offered open fields, tree runs, and fun drops. The Bataleon Surfer provided unsinkable float, maneuverability in powder, arched turns on groomers, and a surprising amount of stability and pop. A couple of the highlights on this board are the Powder 3BT from Bataleon which allows this snowboard to transition quickly from edge to edge while also assisting with float, the full positive camber profile for stability, and the swallow tail assisting with keeping the nose up and making quick turns in powder, as well as giving this board a very unique look. This has been one of my favorite powder boards I've ridden to date, let me know what you think in the comments. Thanks for watching.

I spent multiple days on the Sickstick during our Japan trip and was able to test the snowboard in a nice variety of conditions ranging from park, to slush, to powder. I found the Sickstick to be a very versatile snowboard that was actually really fun in the park thanks to its twinnish style shape. It does have some directional aspects to it like its tapered tail and longer nose (outside the contact points) that both help to offer more float and maneuverability in deep or heavy snow. Overall I would say the Sickstick is a great choice as a freestyle friendly freeride stick. From park to pow I think you're going to have a good time on the Sickstick. This was one of the most fun days of the Japan trip and provided perfect conditions for testing powder snowboards. The whole crew is on surf shaped powder boards, and I am testing the Spring Break Catamaran Snowboard. The first thing you'll notice is the double swallow tail on this snowboard, this creates a one-of-a-kind shape and really highlights the aesthetics of this snowboard. I rode this board is size 166 but honestly, much of the boards length comes from the cut out nose and tail, which actually doesn't effect the performance very much. Because of that this board has a shorter effective edge and feels like a shorter snowboard. The long nose does help to poke out of the powder though and keep you on top of the snow. I also found this board to have a soft flex, i'd rate it right around a 3/10; the Catamaran is very pressable and also damp through choppy terrain thanks to the nose. The combination of a rocker dominant profile, wide frame, and taper allow this board to float very well in the soft stuff. All in all I would say this is a very functional powder board that floats just a good as it looks. Let us know any questions you have down in the comments below, thanks for watching.
