Considered the world’s most GRUELING street car challenge, participants willingly indulge in a hellish week plagued with stresses and failures to prove the worth of their build against others. Starting at Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA for Drag Week 2018, competitors were required to not only make passes each day and turn in their best time, but they MUST drive their car and any tools or special parts required to fix them to and from each drag way. They’ve Gone Through HELL To Get Here! - Drag Week 2018 Day 5. Pulling up to the concluding race day of Hot Rod’s "Drag Week” 2018 is always bittersweet as the racers who’ve made it are equal parts exhausted & exhilarated from completing the most GRUELING street car test in the WORLD. Traveling over EIGHT-HUNDRED miles through Mother Nature’s worst weather and terrain, these incredible displays of craftsmanship have endured tests that some brand new cars would struggle to overcome! Only about 300 of the 375 initial racers managed to return to Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, GA for the final passes of the competition due to the incredibly difficult nature of the competition. Arriving at the final day is our favorite day of the week because we get to see the racers make the most rewarding 1/4 mile pass of their lives after finishing a week of torture, as well as watch them get crazy and really push their cars to see what their builds are capable of with the returned safety of a trailer in case parts fail! Taking a British car he’s owned for over 40 YEARS, and stuffing it to the brim with American muscle has made Ed Olson’s name widely known in the Hot Rod community! Ed’s stretched wheelbase Triumph TR6 has some pro-stock attributes with British styling, which leave him with a very well mannered monster machine. Powered by a family heirloom Pontiac engine (his parents drove the engine home when it was new back in the 70’s), this little sportster is packed with as much nostalgia as it has horsepower! With a turbo this big pushing a consistent 20+psi, this engine has held together while putting down high 8 second passes for over 8 YEARS!
