It's safe to say that he's one of the best in the business when it comes to having an in-depth understanding of ski technique.

In this skiing lesson, Tom shares some great advice on how you can improve your carving turns, and particularly, how to achieve earlier edge engagement.

In the words of Tom, early edge engagement will make a skier feel:
- &#34;a smoother transition through the turn&#34;
- &#34;more stable at high speed&#34;
- &#34;like the ski is doing a lot more of the work&#34;
- &#34;able to ski much steeper slopes faster&#34;

Carving turns are addictive, fast, fun, and we always want more.
So get out there and give it a go, and let us know how you get on.

If you found these tips useful, or if you have a tip of own for how to ski with early edge engagement, please share it with us in the comments!

This is a free section of the how to Eurocarve on a Snowboard tutorial.

On a snowboard, a Eurocarve, is essentially a toeside carve, where the riders weight is totally over their toe edge and they are as flat as possible to the snow. Apart from raising sex appeal and impressing friends, a eurocarve is an awesome way to style up your riding.

PREREQUISITES:
Before attemping eurocarves. You should be proficient in connecting toeside and heelside carves, all over the mountain.

STEP 1 - Practice the position
Before trying a full on Eurocarve. Try and do a very heavy toeside carve. Get as low as you possibly can. The more bent and lower you are, the better. Now try adding a heel edge grab with your front hand. This will help you get used the feeling of riding on the most extreme point of your edge.

STEP 2 - Practice the lay-down motion on flat ground
While strapped into your snowboard, practice transitioning from the super crouched and athletic position from STEP 1 into a full on Eurocarve position. Remember, the lower you are to the ground, the less distance you have to fall to the ground.

STEP 3 - Go for it.
Now that you're used to riding low, and have the lay-down motion on lock, try and combine them together. It will definitely take some tries and getting used to. But, it's a fairly low risk trick, and you'll feel awesome when you start stomping them.

PRO TIP:
- Grab your coat with your fingers to make sure snow doesn't get up your sleave.

Goodluck! And as always, our goal is to improve your riding.

Location: Whistler Blackcomb
Riders: Nev Lapwood and Tino
Stance: Regular

Learn how to do caving turns on your snowboard. Carving is when you ride your snowboard edge around a turn, with your back foot following your front, leaving a clean line in the snow. Carving turns are used to keep you in control of your snowboard at high speeds, for doing quick snowboard turns and in the terrain park when you carve on the approach for a spin. There are five snowboard skills that come together to complete a carving turn. Your stance, edging, steering, pressure control, and adapting to terrain. Work on putting all these snowboard skills together to have a solid carving turn. If you have any question you can leave them in the comment section. If you have any problems with carving and have a video, you can post a link to the video as a comment, so I can watch your riding and give you some feedback.</a>
