World’s toughest hard enduro rally Red Bull Romaniacs 2022 was held for the 19th time this year, 26-30 July 2022, as the 5th round of FIM’s Hard Enduro World Championship. The Carpathian challenge was always a great show for the fans but in 2020 and 2021 we didn’t get the iconic City Prolouge due to global pandemic restrictions. The iconic City Prologue of Red Bull Romaniacs 2022 made its comeback after two years of longing and it was a feast of urban struggle for the hard enduro world. The action at the FIM’s Hard Enduro World Championship resumed in Romania for Round 5 Red Bull Romaniacs, 26-30 July 2022. Being in the historic heart of Sibiu, the City Prologue is known for its ridiculously hard man-made obstacles and it took so many tolls on the riders in the past. It was replaced with Off-Road Time Trial Qualification first in 2020, due to the global pandemic, and this situation continued in 2021 also. With the eased health measures, it was the organization’s chance to return back to originals and they did so. All riders took 2 hot laps in order to be qualified as high as possible to the prologue finals and at the Gold Class it was Alfredo Gomez who scored the best time. He was followed by Manuel Lettenbichler and Taddy Blazusiak. During the finals the story did not change much and the qualification top three finished on top again with a slight change of positions. Alfredo Gomez got the City Prologue victory and continued showing muscle in his post-factory career. Erzbergrodeo 2022 made its comeback after three years of missing and the 4-day hard enduro festival was crowned with an iconic Red Bull Erzbergrodeo 2022 Hare Scramble edition. The extreme enduro supreme was crippled and cancelled both in 2020 and 2021 which carried the expectations even further. Racing week started with Rocket Ride prologue and finals on Thursday. It then continued with the Iron Road prologue heat one on Friday and Heat 2 on Saturday. The fastest 500 were qualified to line up for Hare Scramble on Sunday. The main race of the 26th edition of Erzbergrodeo, Hare Scramble, took off at 14:30 CEST and the battle began. Manuel Lettenbichler had a great start and avoided the traffic very early in the race. The German then rode a flawless pace all alone till CP22, AKA Motorex Highway. When Mani arrived to the newly introduced section it was more then 8 minutes clearance against his closest rival, Mario Roman. Arriving there first without and prior race line, he struggled a lot and ended up having Mario on his tail. Letti was the first to clear CP22 and after that it was basically the Dynamite which could cause problems. He kept his calm and continued without making any mistakes and brought the victory home for the Team. Manuel & Andreas Lettenbichler became the only Father-Son duo to win it in Erzberg, Andreas Lettenbichler won it in 2015. The German also got his second consecutive win in the championship after missing Round 1, Minus 400, and put himself in the P3 at the overall classification of World Hard Enduro Championship, 40pts. Mario Roman was another one coming from an injury from Xross Hard Enduro Rally and he wasn’t fully recovered from it. Spaniard was on a roll despite all and had a great day on the bike. After winning Minus 400 Desert Extreme, he got himself another podium in Round 3, P2. Trystan Hart completed the podium and made history of being the first Canadian on the podium in Erzberg. He had his ups and downs throughout the race and even dropped to P8 before Carl’s Dinner but it didn’t take long to recover those positions and more back. After two years of absence Extreme XL Lagares was back on for the 2022 edition and during the whole weekend we captured some of the most unique and scientifically unexplainable hard enduro fails. Main race on Sunday was easier than usual and it was completed 1 hour earlier than expected but both City Prologue and the Endurocross tracks were tricky as hell. We edited the best of the fails that caught on cameras for you to enjoy and learn. We thank to all fans for the cheer and to the organization for a great show. Racing weekend was started with Endurocross on Friday and continued with City Prologue on Saturday. Especially having the iconic City Prologue back was exciting even if it was a brief one. Italian Extreme Enduro 2022 season kicked off with Rd 1, Wildwoods Extreme Enduro, at the Pro Park Genova on 23-24 April. The main race was on Sunday and all classes hit their dedicated track seperately. Heavy rain that the region received before and during the racing weekend forced organizers to cancel a number of sectors but still it was one hell of a challenge for everyone. Gold Class took start at 15:00 local and it witnessed a great battle between favorites both local and international. Dominik Olszowy was the early leader of the race but the rough track made it really easy to make simple mistakes. Local hero Sonny Goggia took over the lead and kept it quite a while. Towards the end it was Michael Walkner’s turn and he hung on his pace enough to clinch the Victory. Sonny Goggia came in P2 and Dominik Olszowy P3. Being a beautiful race and a great organization, it attracted a lot of international faces including Michael Walkner, Dominik Olszowy and Matt Green. Racing weekend started with the prologue and each classes took 1h to set the best time for main race starting position. World's best hard enduro riders faced a different kind of challenge in Israel at the Minus 400 Desert Extreme and it was the mindblowing heat. FIM's World Hard Enduro 2022 season started with Rd 1 Minus 400 and sometimes the conditions went inhumane. All competitors started to the Day 1 with a 14KM single track qualifier which was to define the fastest 30 to compete the afternoon session Super Enduro finals. They have got two runs for the best time but only the first one was mandatory. Although Billy Bolt was on top after the first run Sherco duo Mario and Wade took their second and passed Billy. Wednesday - Day 2 - started with a shock of heat and it was 40 degrees celsius early in the morning. Riders hit the 18KM prologue with the hope of having a flawless one which would help them decide not to take the optional second run. Sherco’s Wade Young was on a charge and completed the first run on top by finishing it in 37m48s. His team mate Mario Roman came in second only 6s behind and Billy Bolt third, +22s. The weather conditions got worse by the temperature reaching 50 degrees and a sand storm closing in which forced the jury to cancel second run and let riders charge their bodies for the main challenge. Spanish Hard Enduro 2022 Championship resumed for the Round 3 La Pesquera in the Cuenca province of Castilla - La Mancha without the overall leader Mario Roman. 2-Days of racing started with the prologue action and all eyes were on Teodor Kabakchiev and David Cyprian as well as the Spanish nationals Eloi Salsench and Francesc Moret Clota. Teodor was on top of the prologue qualification and he is followed by David Cyprian (P2) and Jordi Quer Molgo (P3). Prologue winner Teodor Kabakchiev was suffering from the mild symptoms of flu in the morning of the main race and it showed its effect on the Bulgarian’s early pace. David Cyprian on the other hand led the race for the most part of it till Teodor made his move at the very last lap. Teodor Kabakchiev won the Round 3 by completing it in 3h16m15s, David Cyprian came in P3 (+4m54s) and Francesc Moret Clota P3 (+1Lap). British Extreme Enduro 2022 season premier Rd 1 Tong witnessed to a true challenge against the severe weather conditions of UK’s finest. Despite the heavy rain and cold weather both the participation and the fans were great. World Hard Enduro champion Billy Bolt and UK’s finest extreme enduro riders put a great show during the PM race. After 2h30m it was Billy Bolt who claimed the victory. Young talent Jack Price came in P2 and Jonathan Richardson P3. Racing Sunday started with AM Race with 104 competitors hitting the track with enthusiasm. 2022 Season of the Spanish Hard Enduro debuted with Rd 1 La Clua De Basella on the last weekend of January, 29-30th. We kicked off the racing weekend with the training session which took 2h of practice for anyone willing. After than it was prologue time and each rider hit it for two hot laps. Saturday ended with the prologue and we headed to the main event on Sunday. The main race was a tricky one just as the prologue and caused a lot of trouble to the riders. Prologue winner Mario Roman came in P1 and won the race in the end. He is accompanied by Teodor Kabakchiev (P2) and Francesc Moret Clota (P3).
