Rich Rebuilds and I bought a Chevrolet Spark EV at the Copart Salvage Auction totally sight unseen in Illinois. The Spark EV is one of the fastest Chevy EVs ever released. I had it shipped down and our plan is to convert our Domino's DXP Pizza Car to the electric car making it the best of both worlds. The guys at Donkey Tec had to one up them by not only racing on the Sweden Streets, but traveling all the way from Germany to do so! Though the team was knocked out of the Stockholm Open fairly quickly, they got in some crazy test hits and a few grudge races that you will see in this video! Circuit de Spa was Heaven, and it made us want to go racing ourselves…so back to the RING! 1320Video took to Germany for the RACE1000 1/2 mile, and along the way we managed to check out as much of the European car culture as we had time for. With our tour guide Frank keeping the trip lively and entertaining, we stopped by several European tuning and performance shops, experienced the power of fine tuned German engineering, and still had time to mix in some sightseeing. This 1989 Volkswagen can go 200mph?! In the middle of 1320Video’s tour of Germany, we found ourselves at the reason we crossed the pond - The RACE1000 1/2 Mile at Airport Magdeburg Cochstedt, aka Germany’s premier 1/2 mile event! We heard this is where European cars come to raise the bar and we were not at all let down! Starting with this 1300hp Volkswagen GTI, powered by a massive Turbo fused to a built 24v VR6 from a VW R32 (they even swapped 4motion drivetrain into it!). Denny Wimmer and his CRAZY mkii GTI really opened our eyes to the European car scene, giving us a taste of what else the RACE1000 had to offer. Fine Tuning Turbos..at 120,000 RPM!! (Germany: EP-5). Enjoying a bit more “spirited” driving in the brand new Audi RS3 we rode out in after a detour at Pannhorst Classics, (where we drooled over an unfathomable wealth of rare European classics for a few hour)s, we found ourselves back at our original destination, Ladermanufaktur. Housing a virtually spotless facility full of new, worn down, or completely destroyed arrays of turbos and parts, this small shop specializes in packing a strong competitive advantage into turbocharger applications through precision parts and tweaks! We were fortunate enough to see the process in action as they fired up some of the machines for us to show us how compressor and turbine wheels are balanced and trimmed to remove vibrations all the way up to 120,000RPMS! Seeing the high level of care and precision Ladermanufaktur applies to their turbocharger applications and facility, we can easily see why they are so busy! Not only that, they were cool enough to save us a few days of riding in our rental Skoda by letting us borrow a baller diesel work van that we put to the test as we got back on the Autobahn and headed for the RACE1000 1/2 Mile! Audi RS3 Wagon Takes Us For a Spin! (You won’t believe where we end up!) Germany is raising the bar for quality of service & presentation (along with general hospitality) as we end up taking strolls through beautiful collections of cars daily! Not only did we detour from our initial pitstop in style by taking out a brand new Audi RS3 Wagon to stretch her legs a bit, we ended up taking a break from spirited runs by pulling up outside of the AMAZING Pannhorst Classics. These guys are truly professionals when it comes to passion in the work places as they house what seems like a never-ending wonderland of IMPECCABLE restorations & classic Euro auto’s for sale. Walking into the workshop (it’s so clean we thought it was the show floor) was the beginning of our jaw-dropping detour-to-tour adventure that blew our minds as each door opened brought us new treasures! It was one heck of a sight to see a big turbo VR6 stuffed into the trunk of a Volkswagen GTI..but we REALLY lost our minds when we saw the SECOND turbo VR6 engine in the front! WHAT IS GOING ON HERE?! Come to find out - this ludicrous creation is a freaking BEAST of a car. You can expect to see it running 9 flat in the 1/4 mile on LOW boost..as well as 180+ in the 1/2 mile - also on low boost. It's just a matter of time until this thing gets cranked up, so we can REALLY see what she's capable of. When it comes to a one-of-a-kind build like this one, you HAVE to be cautious and patient, and thats exactly what the owner is doing.
