We arrived at Whistler mountain at 5:30 AM to be the first snowboarders on the mountain. The first lap we snowboarded through the mountain bike trials to an advanced deep powder tree run. Then headed over to the peak of the mountain where I found the best powder snowboarding lap down from the peak. We spent the last lap riding through an incredible out of bounds tree run called Khybers Pass. We had over twenty five centimeters of new snow fall over night and this is our first light powder snowboarding day at Steven's Pass. TJ and Chris drove down from Whistler to Stevens Pass last night and timed it perfectly for the powder snowboarding day we had today. We were lucky enough today to have some local snowboarders showing the great powder spots in the trees and in open bowls. The tree snowboarding at Stevens Pass was a mix of steep tight trees, wide out and spaced trees and steep tree chutes. The variety of powder snowboarding options and also the incredible people made this one the best days of snowboarding this season! This will be my first cornice drop in Japan on my snowboard and TJ hit this area a few days ago. Following the cornice drop there are open fields of powder and many powder pillows to drop off. This will be my first time exploring this zone in Hanazono Japan and it was worth the hike to find the cornice drop and powder pillows.
