The final round of the 2022 Hard Enduro World Championship was bound to be a close fight at Hixpania between the defending champ Manuel Lettenbichler and the home hero Mario Roman. After Day 1’s City Prologue and Day 2’s Campoo Xtreme Mani managed to reserve the front row for final action, Lost Roads. From start to finish he controlled everything and stayed away doing major mistakes which would have put a tragic end to his almost flawless season. At the end of the day, The German rightfully defended his title and became a 3rd time champion of the world. Mario, with just 4 pts behind Letti, was full of hopes at the start of the week but the opening days didn’t turn out to favour him. He still had a 2h30m extremely hard course to cover as well as his rivals and opportunities might show up. He put his head down, caught his pace and started working on damage recovery but at the end it was just not enough against Letti. The Spaniard crossed the line 2nd and therefore completed the season with P2 on the podium. City Prologue winner Alfredo Gomez was the one who completed the podium for Hixpania Hard Enduro 2022. HEWC championship 3rd position contender Graham Jarvis managed to complete P5 and secured his spot on the season’s overall podium. South African Matt Green became the title winner of the newly introduced Junior Hard Enduro World Champion after a delightful season to remember for himself. It all came down to a final show at the Hixpania Hard Enduro 2022 to decide who was going to be the Champion of the World for Hard Enduro World Championship 2022 season. The title fight between Mario Roman and Manuel Lettenbichler got fierce as we went along with the calendar and it is only a mere 4 points lead that favours the defending German, 1- Letti 107pts 2 – Roman 103pts. By having a better resume at the Spanish challenge, Mario knew he could make the difference and use the home crowd advantage for a final push. The 3-day challenge started with the city prologue where Alfredo Gomez got the P1. Then we jumped into Day 2’s Campoo Xtreme where the story was a bit tragic. Lattenbichler had an amazing day and cleared almost 10minutes to the closest rival and therefore brought the P1 home but later on he was penalized for speeding. After this Trystan Hart found himself as the day’s winner. Day 3’s Lost Roads was laid before all the elements of hard enduro and the iconic Le Mans style start wasn’t there but the 2h30m show started anyway. Manuel Lettenbichler controlled the whole race from start to finish and claimed the Hard Enduro World Championship by winning his 6th race of the season. Mario was sturdy all the way and pushed hard it was just not enough for the day, he came home with a P2 both at the race and the HEWC standings. It was Alfredo Gomez who completed the podium for the year. Graham Jarvis secured his Bronze medal for the season by coming in P5 at the Hixpania 2022. Hixpania Hard Enduro was also the last round of the newly introduced Junior Hard Enduro World Championship, 4 European Rounds out of the HEWC calendar, and the man who triumphed it was Matthew Green from South Africa. Sea to Sky Hard Enduro 2022 kicked off with Day1's Beach race wıth a super tricky track laid ahead to tackle. Travis Teasdale was the winner of the morning qualification and the title defender from last years Beach Race. South African had a bitter sweet race with a bad start in the early minutes. He recovered all the way up to P2 before the end of second lap but it didn't work out for him after that. At the end Travis finished the day with P8 and left some recovery work for the following days! International Six Days of Enduro 2022 continued with Day 2 and we had a baunce back from Team United Kingdom. For the personal best performance it was again Spain's Josep Garcia who set the best time for the day. Throughout the 5 specials, Team UK was on a roll and got the Day's lead with a clear 1m24s. At the Women's World Trophy Team US continued their lead by winning the day again on day two. At the Junior Class Team Italy is on a roll and made their statement over the edition by showing off muscle repeatedly. The Italian Extreme championship heat moved to Teramo for Round 3, Headless Rider Extreme Enduro, past weekend and it was an unreal show with all elements from fans to enthusiast competitors. On Day 2 of racing, it was Sonny Goggia who opened the track for Gold Class. He was followed by his Championship rival Michael Walkner. The two exchanged the lead during the first lap but before it ended the Austrian took the lead. Gas Gas Factory supported Michael Walkner rode a great pace without making any major mistakes and brough the victory home for himself. He continued leading the championship. Privateer and Italy’s own Sonny Goggia put a great effort but it was just not enough to clinch the victory and had to yield for the second position. It was Rigo Racing’s Matt Green who completed the podium for the Round 3. It was a crazy fun racing weekend in the heart of Torricella Sicura and we cannot recommend enough to at least Europeans to be a part of it next year. 36th edition of Trefle Lozerien AMV held past weekend in Mende, France, with over 500 riders and it was a true enduro festival with great organizational experience and fans from around the world. The title fight was a tight one between KTM’s Josep Garcia and Gas Gas’s Andrea Verona. The leading duo was on another level of riding with the tightest margins at the each special but at the end it was Josep Garcia who claimed the victory. The Spaniard added his name to the winners of Therle Lozerien AMV for the second time after his first victory in 2019. Extreme XL Lagares returned after two years of absence and hard enduro magicians from all around the world lined up for a taste of Portuguese extreme, 6 - 8 May 2022. Francesc Moret Clota was kind enough to wear our GoPro during the main race and he captured as much as from the start till his battery died. Rieju Factory rider did great during the first two days but it was time to really show off what he has from his trials background. The Spanish man felt great and made a good start and even collected some positions early in the race. He did not have any technical problem with his ride but the pace wasn’t there for a podium appearance at the end. Francesc completed the race in 3h54m58s and claimed P6 behind Ni Esteves. Extreme XL Lagares’s legendary City Prologue made a comeback after two years and it was a great entertainment through Porto’s iconic streets. It was held the other side of the river for the first time and organization put a lot of effort to execute this massive operation at the touristic heart of the city. All riders took one hot lap to set the best time. XL, Hobby and Veteran classes rode the track in reverse which was fairly easy and match for their skillsets. Then Expert and Pro classes took the scene for the real challenge. Massive obstacles and narrow streets were tricky to pass and sometimes riders made mistakes which were ended up with fails. The fastest 10 qualified for the City Prologue whole shot which was a race of the same track for only one lap. Jumping right into the narrow street stairs caused a bit of traffic which took a while to pass. Mario Roman made a great start and took the early lead and did not effected by the traffic jam. His teammate Wade Young was behind but the race was brief and couldn’t find a chance to make a move. Mario Roman got the victory for the first podium of the race, Wade Young came in P2 and Portuguese Diogo Vieira P3. Extreme XL Lagares 2022 was held past weekend and it was a great hard enduro show for both competitors and fans. After last years hectic last minute cancellation it was the time for a great comeback in 2022. Organization put a great effort and added the iconic city prologue again but this time on the other side of the river. Sherco duo Mario Roman and Wade Young was everyone's favourite but William Hoare, Francesc Moret and Diogo Vieira were strong challengers. City Prologue wholeshot was a brief one and it was won by Mario. He was followed by fellow teammate Wade and Diogo was 3rd. Endurocross action consisted of two semi-finals and a super final for each class. Pro class super final victory was claimed by Eurotek's William Hoare. Diogo Vieira came in P2 and Wade Young P3. Main Race on Sunday took start at 10:00am local. Wade Young was the early leader of the stage and kept it for a while. Day 2 Endurocross Super Final action from Extreme XL Lagares was a show to watch and we are all lucky to have winners GoPro POV. Pro class final heat witnessed a breathtaking challenge between Wade Young, William Hoare and Diogo Vieira. Wade was the early leader but the mistake he did through the rocky curve let William and Diogo pass. Wade tried to recover it but being in a rush made it easy to make mistakes and he did so.
