The final round of the 2022 Hard Enduro World Championship was bound to be a close fight at Hixpania between the defending champ Manuel Lettenbichler and the home hero Mario Roman. After Day 1’s City Prologue and Day 2’s Campoo Xtreme Mani managed to reserve the front row for final action, Lost Roads. From start to finish he controlled everything and stayed away doing major mistakes which would have put a tragic end to his almost flawless season. At the end of the day, The German rightfully defended his title and became a 3rd time champion of the world. Mario, with just 4 pts behind Letti, was full of hopes at the start of the week but the opening days didn’t turn out to favour him. He still had a 2h30m extremely hard course to cover as well as his rivals and opportunities might show up. He put his head down, caught his pace and started working on damage recovery but at the end it was just not enough against Letti. The Spaniard crossed the line 2nd and therefore completed the season with P2 on the podium. City Prologue winner Alfredo Gomez was the one who completed the podium for Hixpania Hard Enduro 2022. HEWC championship 3rd position contender Graham Jarvis managed to complete P5 and secured his spot on the season’s overall podium. South African Matt Green became the title winner of the newly introduced Junior Hard Enduro World Champion after a delightful season to remember for himself. It all came down to a final show at the Hixpania Hard Enduro 2022 to decide who was going to be the Champion of the World for Hard Enduro World Championship 2022 season. The title fight between Mario Roman and Manuel Lettenbichler got fierce as we went along with the calendar and it is only a mere 4 points lead that favours the defending German, 1- Letti 107pts 2 – Roman 103pts. By having a better resume at the Spanish challenge, Mario knew he could make the difference and use the home crowd advantage for a final push. The 3-day challenge started with the city prologue where Alfredo Gomez got the P1. Then we jumped into Day 2’s Campoo Xtreme where the story was a bit tragic. Lattenbichler had an amazing day and cleared almost 10minutes to the closest rival and therefore brought the P1 home but later on he was penalized for speeding. After this Trystan Hart found himself as the day’s winner. Day 3’s Lost Roads was laid before all the elements of hard enduro and the iconic Le Mans style start wasn’t there but the 2h30m show started anyway. Manuel Lettenbichler controlled the whole race from start to finish and claimed the Hard Enduro World Championship by winning his 6th race of the season. Mario was sturdy all the way and pushed hard it was just not enough for the day, he came home with a P2 both at the race and the HEWC standings. It was Alfredo Gomez who completed the podium for the year. Graham Jarvis secured his Bronze medal for the season by coming in P5 at the Hixpania 2022. Hixpania Hard Enduro was also the last round of the newly introduced Junior Hard Enduro World Championship, 4 European Rounds out of the HEWC calendar, and the man who triumphed it was Matthew Green from South Africa. Day 2 Endurocross Super Final action from Extreme XL Lagares was a show to watch and we are all lucky to have winners GoPro POV. Pro class final heat witnessed a breathtaking challenge between Wade Young, William Hoare and Diogo Vieira. Wade was the early leader but the mistake he did through the rocky curve let William and Diogo pass. Wade tried to recover it but being in a rush made it easy to make mistakes and he did so. From that on it was between Will and Diogo. The two exchanged the lead for a couple times but at the end it was William Hoare who made it. The action at the ACU’s British Extreme Enduro 2022 Championship resumed with Round 2 Cowm Quarry in Rochdale under very un-British weather conditions. The course at the Cowm Leisure Off-Road centre was bone dry and the sun was warming as a day left from summer. Billy Bolt took no rest after season closure back-to-back Super Enduro GPs in Germany, where he got his second consecutive championship title, and came all the way home for British Extreme. He had a flawless day of riding without pushing it too hard and tackled with William Hoare, early leader, quite a while. Getting close to the chequered flag Billy took the lead and came in as the victor of Rd 2 Cowm Quarry. William Hoare had a great performance against Billy and the challenge they had gave buzz to the British fans. He took the early lead and kept it going till the 5th lap, where he lost it against Bolt. He than pushed it hard but came in P2 with only 1m12s behind. Jack Price finished the race with P3 and Paul Bolton P4. Spanish Hard Enduro 2022 Championship resumed for the Round 3 La Pesquera in the Cuenca province of Castilla - La Mancha without the overall leader Mario Roman. 2-Days of racing started with the prologue action and all eyes were on Teodor Kabakchiev and David Cyprian as well as the Spanish nationals Eloi Salsench and Francesc Moret Clota. Teodor was on top of the prologue qualification and he is followed by David Cyprian (P2) and Jordi Quer Molgo (P3). Prologue winner Teodor Kabakchiev was suffering from the mild symptoms of flu in the morning of the main race and it showed its effect on the Bulgarian’s early pace. David Cyprian on the other hand led the race for the most part of it till Teodor made his move at the very last lap. Teodor Kabakchiev won the Round 3 by completing it in 3h16m15s, David Cyprian came in P3 (+4m54s) and Francesc Moret Clota P3 (+1Lap). The main race of the Spanish Hard Enduro Rd 3, La Pesquera’s main race was a 3h challenge and the Prologue winner Teodor Kabakchiev had to suffer mild symptoms of flu including fever. The Bulgarian took a bad start and lost his advantage but it was a long run and he knew he had to keep his head down and focus on his pace. He then at the very last lap caught and passed David Cyprian and took the victory. Teodor completed the race in 3h16m15s and David came in P2, +4m54s.Teodor and David were the only ones to complete 8 laps within the time window. Abestone Hard Enduro 2021 was the event’s debut edition and it took the World Hard Enduro Championship heat onto the rocks of Italia’s one of finest ski resorts, Abetone – Tuscany. The racing weekend witnessed a tight battle between Billy Bolt and Manuel Lettenbichler. It was Bolt who won it by a nose and took the advantage at the championship ladder. World of Hard Enduro made its unofficial 2022 season debut with the France’s most famous hard enduro event, 24MX Alestrem Hard Enduro. After missing it in 2021 it was time to end the longing and more than 450 riders cheered the French action.
