Rally Barbados is one of the most unique Rallys in the world and definitely one of my favorite stops on our tour this year. Coming into this race we had all of the odds stacked against us. We were racing a new car with little to no testing, there were monsoon weather conditions throughout the week, and the looming reminder that the last two times I've raced here have ended in disaster, we no easy feat to overcome. Luckily, Alex Gelsomino and I did our homework and we able to come home with the overall win at this event. Rally Legends is quite possibly the wildest rally on the planet. It has it all, fast technical tarmac stages through a 13th century city, wild fans, legendary drivers, and the greatest race cars from all different eras of rally. This year Alex Gelsomino and I were able to come away with a win in our class and clinch 3rd overall against modern WRC cars. Super stoked to be back to racing thanks to the ARA (American Rally Association) putting on the Southern Ohio Forest Rally (SOFR) despite still being in the middle of a pandemic. This event was wildly different than any rally event I've run before - with no fans or spectators - only one night of actual racing - on just two special stages repeated three times each - all based on organizers doing their best to adapt to the current state of the world and navigating local permit restrictions. The good news is that we're racing again, and these were some of the best stage roads I have driven in an American Rally event, with Alex Gelsomino and I getting quicker and quicker as the night went on, at our first rally in this new COVID-19 era! Rally Mexico is definitely the Wild West of the WRC schedule, and even though the race weekend didn't go exactly as planned I still had a rad time meeting all the fans - running the night stage through the streets and tunnels of Guanajuato for the opening ceremony - and pushing my Ford Escort RS Cossie (ultimately to its breaking point) on the first proper gravel stage of the 2020 Cossie World Tour. But hey, at least I didn't roll. Viva Mexico! And congrats to Teemu Sunninen & Jarmo Lehtinen on their 3rd overall finish in their Ford Fiesta WRC. To kick off WRC Mexico, Monster Energy put on this rad press conference / autograph signing session in the middle of Guanajuato, Mexico at the actual cathedral plaza filming location from Gymkhana TEN - AKA the spot with the motorcycle proximity slide. They set up a display booth for my Ford Escort RS Cossie, brought some Monster girls, and a giant crowd. We had a blast out there! Fandemonium at its finest. Rally Legend in San Marino (small country inside of Italy, 5th smallest in the world) is one of the wildest stage rallies in the world.
