Tom Gellie has devoted season after season to perfect his carving turns. It's safe to say that he's one of the best in the business when it comes to having an in-depth understanding of ski technique. In this skiing lesson, Tom shares some great advice on how you can improve your carving turns, and particularly, how to achieve earlier edge engagement. In the words of Tom, early edge engagement will make a skier feel: - "a smoother transition through the turn" - "more stable at high speed" - "like the ski is doing a lot more of the work" - "able to ski much steeper slopes faster" Carving turns are addictive, fast, fun, and we always want more. A positive camber profile is going to provide the snowboard with more energy and snap, a stiffer flex will give you more stability and carry you through higher speed turns without washing out, and a wider snowboard will give you the ability to lay over turns more aggressively. The groomers were firm and fast which made for perfect condition to test out these snowboards. I found that the T Rice Pro was incredible for getting aggressive with the carves. The highlight was the magna traction the snowboard has to hold the carve and prevent you from sliding out. I've been leaning toward buying this snowboard and after demoing it, I one step closer. TJ had a great time riding the Jones Mountain Twin. He's doing a full review on the snowboard for the channel and will be up soon! We hope you find the carving tips though out the video helpful! Once you are comfortable carving without scrubbing at high speeds, you're ready to try these carves.
