00:08
Welcome to the 2018 AASI Rider Rally!

00:19
We ripped A-Basin Colorado for a week
00:23
the snow was great considering it was May
00:25
there was a huge turnout with certified
00:28
riders from all over the world!
00:30
Team riders gave a good show sharing
00:33
knowledge that we'll bring back to our
00:36
divisions & local resorts.
00:39
Snowboarding has many styles- &#34;Oh My God I'm In The Middle Of A Rider Rally!&#34; & you can adapt to the snow conditions. Our rhythms
00:47
started flowing towards surfer turns and
00:50
euro carvers. Here we we’re doing some Euro Carves laying our bodies in the snow
00:55
getting our back arm to drag. We really talked a lot about practicing and focusing on one thing that you’re about 75% efficient on that movement, trick or skill. For this style of carving you want to get low at the very beginning of your turn and start dragging your back arm in the snow. Get your board to change edges across the fall line. Refer back to my Dynamic Flex & Extension Video to get you flowing in rhythm. Put a lot of your weight on your back leg, then extend through your turn and lay your body in the snow. Put pressure towards the nose of your snowboard to pop you back up. If you put a grab in you’re making Surfer Turns. For Now let’s hang 10.

Carving is riding and balancin on the snowboard’s edge and sidecut. Your back foot follows your front foots direct path and you’re not skidding. Keep your core over the width of your snowboard and pressure down on the edge. If you’ve done snowboard training you can see there are many different styles, alignments and movements in these carves. Some carving styles here were to seperate your upper body from your lower locking you into your carves but it causes alignment issues and can tweak muscles or joints. Carving like this is for higher level riders so build up to carving by trying Circle Turns. Snowboarding is a very active sport. Stay fit to be able to bend, absorb, flex and extend with little effort. When riding with a huge group of high level snowboarders you see cool style and tricks that you might want to be able to do. Build up to that skill by perfect practice. Do the same trick over and over again until you’ve got muscle memory and as you’re flowing down the mountain you can bust that trick out anytime no problem.

Today we picked up two all mountain snowboards from Evolution Whistler and headed up Blackcomb mountain to do some carving. The groomers were firm and fast which made for perfect condition to test out these snowboards. I found that the T Rice Pro was incredible for getting aggressive with the carves. The highlight was the magna traction the snowboard has to hold the carve and prevent you from sliding out. I've been leaning toward buying this snowboard and after demoing it, I one step closer. TJ had a great time riding the Jones Mountain Twin. He's doing a full review on the snowboard for the channel and will be up soon! We hope you find the carving tips though out the video helpful! Check out the intermediate snowboard playlist for more carving tips and tutorials. Thanks for watching!</a>

Never Summer Proto Type 2 Review: http://boardarchive.com/never-summer-proto-type-2-snowboard-review/

It's closing week for Keystone Resort in Colorado but there is still plenty of goods to be had. In this video conditions are ripe for carving and I share 5 more advanced carves for you to try as part of the test for the Never Summer Proto Type 2 snowboard. Once you are comfortable carving without scrubbing at high speeds, you're ready to try these carves. I will talk you through and demonstrate the standard eurocarve, heel carve with grab, eurocarve with 2 grab variations, and the revert carve. All of these carves are a lot of fun and are a great way to challenge yourself as you cruise around the mountain. Remember to always check uphill before turning sharply so that you don't cut in front of anyone. Please leave your questions and comments below, and make sure to visit http://boardarchive.com for the full review of the Never Summer Proto Type 2 Snowboard.

In this video we have 10 tips that will help you improve your carving snowboard turns! A carve is when you ride your snowboards edge around a turn. Carving is an aggressive way to turn with your snowboard with speed and control. Carving is also necessary if you want to do spinning ticks in the park and for riding the half pipe. You can start learning to carve by focusing on one turn at a time. For the toe carve focusing on bending your knees toward the snow. For the heel carve pretending like you're sitting in a chair. As the individual carves improve you can start linking them together on a mellow slope. Always progress at your own pace and be safe while practicing your snowboard carving turns. Thanks for watching!</a>

In this video I challenge you to use your snowboards edge more aggressively. You use your snowboards edge to turn and control your speed. By using your edge earlier in your turn, you'll have more control over your board on advanced terrain. A tactic to help you get your snowboard on edge earlier is to show the base of your snowboard to the side or top of the run. You also want to use your ankles to increase your edge angle while snowboarding. I hope you'll try this challenge and give me some feedback on how it goes. Have fun out there snowboarding!

In this video I'm going to teach you three snowboard edge tricks. Each of these tricks can be done on the run and will challenge you to improve your carving skill and be more creative while riding on the runs. Ideally you want to learn these trick on groomed runs with good snow conditions. Always check to make sure the areas are clear of other riders when trying these tricks.
The first edge trick is the circle carve. A circle carve is where you ride your snowboards toe edge around in a circle, until your boards pointed down the hill again. To get the circle carve around you need to increase the angle of your snowboard to hold your edge in the snow. You also need to aggressively steer the board around the circle with your knees and front shoulder. The key for the circle carve is to find an area on the mountain where it's steep to get speed, followed by a mellow area where you can carve your board around. Avoid getting too much of your weight over the snow, or turning too quickly, this can cause you board to slide out.
The second edge trick is the spray ride through. The spray ride through is pretty self explanatory. You use your snowboards edge to create a big spray of snow, then ride threw the spray. Good snow conditions are ideal for getting the snow to spray into the air. Find a long steep run where you have enough room to build up speed, spray snow and continue to ride out with speed. The key to this trick is to quickly twisting your body to get your snowboards sideways on your toe edge to spray snow, then quickly untwist to get your boards straight again and ride through with speed.
The third edge trick is the revert carve. The revert carve is where you carve in on your toe edge, spay snow to the side, then ride out switch on your toe edge. Before attempting this trick make sure you have solid switch carving skills. Give yourself lots of room this trick, and make sure there's no other riders where you ride out, because you bling for a second as you transition to switch. The key for this trick is to keep up your speed through the spray, so you have enough momentum to continue the revert carve. You can get creative by riding out the revert carve with cab 180's or butter nose roll.
Have fun learning these three edge tricks. If you have any questions you can always leave them down in the comments. To learn more snowboard tricks, check out the full trick playlist. For three bonus tip check out the link to my Patreon page. Thanks for watching guys, have fun out there, and I'll see ya in the next video!
