Believe it or not, owner Duncan flew to the US in 2004 to buy it brand new and bring it back home to the UK. For years the truck was his pride and joy, only used for Sunday best and always kept in pristine condition. It's time for the Clean Team to get stuck into a proper Japanese performance icon. Luke bought his S15 in 2018 and has always ensured his car makes a statement. It has been wrapped four times and regularly attends car shows across the country. Builder Darren has had his Fiat Scudo for four years and by the looks of the interior, he tends to bring his work home with him. Driver and passenger seats are caked in cement and dirt, with grime in every crevice possible. Apparently, it's only had a sweep out "once or twice" - the Clean Team is going to need much more than a broom to get this van up to scratch. Juley has owned seven Minis over the years, but she has brought her 1981 Austin Morris Mini “Little Min” to the Clean Team for some professional help. Unsurprisingly tree surgeon Tom’s Mitsubishi L200 truck is full of wood chips, leaves, mud and chainsaw grease. The same cannot be said for the mountain of takeaway containers that fill the passenger side footwell (there’s even a full order of doner kebab that has been in the cab for an unknown amount of time...) The Top Gear producers have set the Clean Team a unique challenge in the form of an FV432 Armoured Personnel Carrier. Built for the British Army in the 1960's this vehicle now spends its life in the Leicestershire countryside having paintball battles. This tank is washed once a year, and that time is now. This Audi R8 used to be Andrew's pride and joy. Purchased in 2019 and immediately wrapped in emerald green, it’s safe to say he wanted this car to be seen. Sadly though, a freak hail storm whilst at a car show in Italy left the R8 with some serious damage. The wrap was hastily removed for repairs (leaving lots of glue behind...) and has since been sitting in storage for over a year. It’s now up to the Clean Team to get this 5.2-litre naturally aspirated supercar back where it should be - on the road! Not only does it look horrible, but it's completely unnecessary. Follow the simple techniques explained in this video and keep your car looking pristine and swirl free! Wash as much dirt off the car as possible BEFORE touching it with a sponge! One of the biggest causes of swirl marks is scrubbing the car with a sponge that's caked full of dirt and grip. You may as well use sandpaper to clean your car. Using a high pressure hose, wash as much dirt as you can off the car, working from top to bottom. If you have a foam sprayer, this can assist even further with a sponge-free wash. Use two or more Microfibre sponges Never touch your car's paintwork or plastics with the same sponge you use yto clean your wheels or underbody. Brake dust is extremely abrasive and will scratch it. Use two buckets One to get the sponge soapy, another to clean the dirty water off it. Never mix the two together. Just take a look at the colour of the water in the rinse bucket once you're done and you'll see what I mean. Work from top to bottom in straight lines (no scrubbing or swirling) Gravity is your best friend. Get as much soapy water as possible on to the sponge and work from the top of the car down, allowing the water to wash the dirt down towards the bottom of the car. Let the sponge do the work! You souldn't have to apply any pressure at all to the sponge for it to pick up the dirt. Stains, tar spots, etc should be trated seperately by a detailer. Don't scrub at them. You'll do more harm than good. Use Microfibre Towels Using a microfibre towel, dry the car from top to bottom, again using straight lines and letting the towel do the work. If you come across a dirty part you missed while washing, DO NOT be tempted to just rub it off with the towel. The twoel has far less lubrication than your sponge, and will do a much better job of scratching your car if you allow it to.
