We're snowboarding in the Whistler terrain park and the slushy snow is perfect for a butter challenge. I've only ever done a cab 360 nose roll where TJ has only done frontside and backside 360 nose rolls. The rules are that whoever can put down all four butter tricks the cleanest will be the winner. This is definitely a trickier butter to get down as it involves combing several more advanced tricks all into one. You'll want to practice your nollie backside 180's, switch nose press hopping to tail press, cab 180, cab 360, and switch backside 180 before trying this one. Having a softer flexing snowboard will also make this trick easier to learn. I think the most difficult parts are the switch nose press, and the switch backside 180, but by learning all of these tricks it will help you with your overall board control and separating your upper and lower body which can be useful in the park. Once you get this one down it feels really good and is a really fun trick. PO Box 317 Whistler, BC, Canada V0N 1B0 In this video we are snowboarding in the Austrian Alps at St. Anton and running through a few quick tips for this butter trick! This is a really fun trick to know because you can pretty much throw it anywhere as you are snowboarding around groomed terrain. Once you are comfortable with ollies and very comfortable with backside shifty's, you're ready to try the Hot Garbage (A.K.A. on snow blunt slide). The best place to try this trick is over a roller or on the knuckle of a jump since that will help give you lift above the snow with minimal ollie. You'll want to approach the roller with good speed and ollie just as you are coming over the crest, once you're in the air focus on dipping your tail down so that it is dragging on the snow and then twisting, extending, and holding your backside shifty as best as you can. It takes some practice to get comfortable with, but once you have it down I'm sure its a trick that you'll be throwing all the time.
