This Nardo wrapped Nissan GTR, is a truly one of a kind build. Sleek and subtle, it lurks in the lanes without attracting attention (at least until it pulls away from the starting line!). Maurice and this T1 build have already been through several revisions and hurdles to get where they are now. The addition of the DCT class at GTR World Cup 2021 caught the attention of many racers, resulting in many new builds debuting at the event. This change appears to have been well received as it provided an event for many racers hindered by the clutches of a frigid winter. While Jason Heffner doesn’t fall into that category from the warmth of Florida, he had other obstacles to overcome in order to compete in this new class. One being that he hadn’t purchased the car yet, and when he made the decision to pull the trigger on one, the event was only a month away. When we he told us that we were almost certain the Heffner Twin Turbo decals were simply for show. It only took one pass to see that he wasn’t kidding, and he and his team did in fact pull it off! George Dodworth is a staple, a hero, and a legend in the GTR community, and after this event he can tack “pioneer” onto his GTR resumè. George made the bold decision to convert his 2009 Nissan GTR (which is famously AWD), into a 2-wheel-drive only setup for GTR World Cup 2021. While you’ll really just have to watch the video to understand the rollercoaster of events that transpired, we can expect that this change will be received with mixed emotions. Sacrilegious to some but exciting for others, regardless George and T1R are taking the inevitable steps required to catapult this platform farther and farther into uncharted territory. George knew it would be a gamble, and at this power level there is no such thing as “things just working right”, but we are happy to say that we are absolutely impressed by what we’ve seen so far. We are very curious to see where the data they gather leads, and we are hoping that TX2K21 sets the stage for some untapped potential! Seeing a Porsche pull the wheels up is not something we see a lot of, which is why Fred was so giddy about the car after every pass. While the wheelies are incredibly badass, we don’t can’t overlook how consistent this car is after so little track time (the guys over at AIM Performance are really onto something it seems). This Porsche marks a turning point for this event as 2021 is the first year where GTR World Cup, is no longer a GTR exclusive event! Enter the DCT class, which opens the lanes to a new demographic of racers to a well established event they’d likely be attending regardless, but this expansion has made room for extra excitement! Brook Berini’s GT-R is easily the brightest and all around pinkest GT-R we have seen in a long time. Taking her stock turbo GT-R to new heights, Brook brought her GT-R to the 2020 GT-R World Cup in Bradenton, FL to try and see what she could accomplish on a freshly built engine translated into her beloved 100,000 mile chassis.
