When we set out to build the Vanilla Ice inspired, drop top 5.0 Fox body Mustang, we had one major goal in mind - Teach my daughter Lia to drift with it. For her instructor, I enlisted the help of my friend and Formula Drift Champion, Vaughn Gittin Jr. As it turned out, Lia would get the FULL drift experience. Breaking parts, track side modifications, running out of fuel, and persevering through it all to finally nail the final trick. The Borla Exhaust completely changed the tune of this Fox and not surprisingly, the Toyo Tires we ran held up through the entire day! The Carcaine Destiny Fox Body Ford Mustang has been in need of a new wheel ever since Lia Block's drift lesson with Formula Drift Champion, Vaughn Gittin Jr. a few months back. So we went to Rotiform to find out what it takes to make a good wheel....and a horrible wheel. There have been many notoriously bad wheel designs throughout the last few decades. We pulled from one of the most iconic of this group to create what we now call the "Aint Care Bear." Jason from Rotiform had it machined on the spot, we wrapped it in Toyo Proxes rubber, and then we let that Borla Exhaust sing and gave it a proper Hoonigan style break-in. Its ridiculous, its dumb, but its also kind of awesome if you're into that sort of thing. After debuting my Audi Sport Quattro replica “Turbo Monster” last year in Hoonigan’s RING LEADERS (https://youtu.be/Gufm5H4hZi0) and at SEMA in Toyo Tires booth, we had a long year of fine tuning some details in the car: from a custom exhaust from Borla for the 730+ horsepower inline-5 turbo engine, to fine tuning hand-brake location, and even registering the car complete with the custom CARCAIN(E) license plate. NOW we‘re finally able to give the Sport Quattro its first proper test at Willow Springs Raceway in Southern California. Full throttle pulls, i5 turbo exhaust sound music-to-ear science (thanks again Borla), handbrake slides, figure 8's, donuts, tire smoke (and a wheel lockup issue); the stress gets put on. After all, the goal here is to have a reliable (and hoon-capable; because when’s the last time I didn’t Hoon Test anything I drive regularly??) daily driver. Enjoy!!
