The Capita Ultrafear snowboard is a solid all around freestyle snowboard for both jibbing and jumping. You'll find a flat to rocker profile and a medium soft flex in this one, I think this combination provides you with a ride that is fun and capable for jibbing and butters while still offering decent stability for jumping and cruising outside of the park. It also comes out of the factory with a structured, sintered base. This is actually a pretty big deal in my opinion and creates a ride that glides extremely well on all snow surfaces, and is able to accelerate quickly. Overall I think the Ultrafear is a beginner friendly snowboard that is still going to offer the performance that experienced park riders want and need. This is a really fun and versatile board that excels at carving as well as powder performance (even though we didn't get to test it in powder). It runs a flat to rocker profile and has a directional shape. It features a taper and setback stance, as well as a longer nose outside the contact points. This will provide you with float in powder and some dampening as you ride through those choppy slush sections. It is also a really wide snowboard which makes it more fun for layed over carves, and is also helpful in the slush and for those of you with larger boot sizes. At the end of the day this is a board that's going to serve up good times any day of the season. I rode more natural and freeride style terrain at Loveland and found that the Horrorscope did pretty well and could get around fine, but wasn't really comfortable at higher speeds. The heavier choppy snow was able to push the board around and flex the tips pretty easily. In the park the flat to rocker profile offered a comfortable feeling that locked into rail features well, and also provided a platform for easy presses. I also like the blunted tips, this allows you to ride a shorter snowboard for better maneuverability and still have the control and stability of a slightly larger board. Overall I think the Horrorscope can be a fun snowboard for any rider from a beginner to more advanced riders. It will be easy to control and maneuver and is also a fun and capable freestyle snowboard. I was able to find some fun natural features, get some good carving in, ollie things, and also take a few park laps. The Scott Stevens Pro held up really well, although it is a pretty playful snowboard overall that is most at home in the park and generally riding with a freestyle mentality. I found this snowboard to be very maneuverable at slow speeds, fun to carve with, and quite poppy considering it is a flat to rocker profile. If you are looking for something fun and playful that is just as much fun as it looks, I would recommend the Scott Stevens Pro. This video was filmed on May 5, 2017 at Arapahoe basin, and still had pretty solid conditions for trying out these boards. These are both high profile snowboards that everyone was talking about and comparing during the 2016/2017 season, so when the opportunity arose I thought it would be a good idea to compare them and clear things up. The DOA is very freestyle friendly but rides more like an all-mountain snowboard while the Huck Knife is more of a pure freestyle stick. In the end they are both a lot of fun with the DOA being more aggressive and poppy and the Huck Knife being more playful, pressable and jib friendly.
