Uncle Hard Enduro 2022, one of Indonesia's most famous Hard Enduro Race, was held in South Borneo - Kirampark. Teodor Kabakchiev did not leave the top to anyone on the second day. Teodor performed quite well and finished day 2 P1 ahead of Alfredo Gomez, Graham Jarvis, Mario Roman and Wade Young. The final round of the 2022 Hard Enduro World Championship was bound to be a close fight at Hixpania between the defending champ Manuel Lettenbichler and the home hero Mario Roman. After Day 1’s City Prologue and Day 2’s Campoo Xtreme Mani managed to reserve the front row for final action, Lost Roads. From start to finish he controlled everything and stayed away doing major mistakes which would have put a tragic end to his almost flawless season. At the end of the day, The German rightfully defended his title and became a 3rd time champion of the world. Mario, with just 4 pts behind Letti, was full of hopes at the start of the week but the opening days didn’t turn out to favour him. He still had a 2h30m extremely hard course to cover as well as his rivals and opportunities might show up. He put his head down, caught his pace and started working on damage recovery but at the end it was just not enough against Letti. The Spaniard crossed the line 2nd and therefore completed the season with P2 on the podium. City Prologue winner Alfredo Gomez was the one who completed the podium for Hixpania Hard Enduro 2022. HEWC championship 3rd position contender Graham Jarvis managed to complete P5 and secured his spot on the season’s overall podium. It all came down to a final show at the Hixpania Hard Enduro 2022 to decide who was going to be the Champion of the World for Hard Enduro World Championship 2022 season. The title fight between Mario Roman and Manuel Lettenbichler got fierce as we went along with the calendar and it is only a mere 4 points lead that favours the defending German, 1- Letti 107pts 2 – Roman 103pts. By having a better resume at the Spanish challenge, Mario knew he could make the difference and use the home crowd advantage for a final push. The 3-day challenge started with the city prologue where Alfredo Gomez got the P1. Then we jumped into Day 2’s Campoo Xtreme where the story was a bit tragic. Lattenbichler had an amazing day and cleared almost 10minutes to the closest rival and therefore brought the P1 home but later on he was penalized for speeding. After this Trystan Hart found himself as the day’s winner. Day 3’s Lost Roads was laid before all the elements of hard enduro and the iconic Le Mans style start wasn’t there but the 2h30m show started anyway. Manuel Lettenbichler controlled the whole race from start to finish and claimed the Hard Enduro World Championship by winning his 6th race of the season. Mario was sturdy all the way and pushed hard it was just not enough for the day, he came home with a P2 both at the race and the HEWC standings. It was Alfredo Gomez who completed the podium for the year. Graham Jarvis secured his Bronze medal for the season by coming in P5 at the Hixpania 2022. Hixpania Hard Enduro was also the last round of the newly introduced Junior Hard Enduro World Championship, 4 European Rounds out of the HEWC calendar, and the man who triumphed it was Matthew Green from South Africa. Off-road day one of the World’s toughest hard enduro rallye, Red Bull Romaniacs 2022, started with a big drama for the title defender Manuel Lettenbichler. The German cooked his clutch at the Babysitter and forced to receive outside help, which then caused him a 2h time penalty. He then dropped back to P17 from P7. On the other hand, 6-Time Romaniacs winner Graham Jarvis had a stunning day on the track which let him finished on top, 4h47m15s. The Brit rode a stunning pace without making any major mistakes and cleared more than 4 minutes against his closest rival, Teodor Kabakchiev. The young Bulgarian continued to impress hard enduro fans and made a perfect start to his Romaniacs 2022 journey by scoring the second-best time of the day. Trystan Hart completed the top 3 for the day. Former Romaniacs winner and hard enduro veteran Chris Birch,2010, came out to compete in the silver class and so far, his journey is getting the momentum. He completed the day in 3rd position, only 39s behind Fabien Poirot and Adam Giles. The Dakar winner and MX World champion Matthias Walkner was another one to keep an eye on with his dune eating big Rally Bike. The iconic City Prologue of Red Bull Romaniacs 2022 made its comeback after two years of longing and it was a feast of urban struggle for the hard enduro world. The action at the FIM’s Hard Enduro World Championship resumed in Romania for Round 5 Red Bull Romaniacs, 26-30 July 2022. Being in the historic heart of Sibiu, the City Prologue is known for its ridiculously hard man-made obstacles and it took so many tolls on the riders in the past. It was replaced with Off-Road Time Trial Qualification first in 2020, due to the global pandemic, and this situation continued in 2021 also. With the eased health measures, it was the organization’s chance to return back to originals and they did so. All riders took 2 hot laps in order to be qualified as high as possible to the prologue finals and at the Gold Class it was Alfredo Gomez who scored the best time. He was followed by Manuel Lettenbichler and Taddy Blazusiak. During the finals the story did not change much and the qualification top three finished on top again with a slight change of positions. Alfredo Gomez got the City Prologue victory and continued showing muscle in his post-factory career. Erzbergrodeo 2022 made its comeback after three years of missing and the 4-day hard enduro festival was crowned with an iconic Red Bull Erzbergrodeo 2022 Hare Scramble edition. The extreme enduro supreme was crippled and cancelled both in 2020 and 2021 which carried the expectations even further. Racing week started with Rocket Ride prologue and finals on Thursday. It then continued with the Iron Road prologue heat one on Friday and Heat 2 on Saturday. The fastest 500 were qualified to line up for Hare Scramble on Sunday. The main race of the 26th edition of Erzbergrodeo, Hare Scramble, took off at 14:30 CEST and the battle began. Manuel Lettenbichler had a great start and avoided the traffic very early in the race. The German then rode a flawless pace all alone till CP22, AKA Motorex Highway. When Mani arrived to the newly introduced section it was more then 8 minutes clearance against his closest rival, Mario Roman. Arriving there first without and prior race line, he struggled a lot and ended up having Mario on his tail. Letti was the first to clear CP22 and after that it was basically the Dynamite which could cause problems. He kept his calm and continued without making any mistakes and brought the victory home for the Team. Manuel & Andreas Lettenbichler became the only Father-Son duo to win it in Erzberg, Andreas Lettenbichler won it in 2015. The German also got his second consecutive win in the championship after missing Round 1, Minus 400, and put himself in the P3 at the overall classification of World Hard Enduro Championship, 40pts. Mario Roman was another one coming from an injury from Xross Hard Enduro Rally and he wasn’t fully recovered from it. Spaniard was on a roll despite all and had a great day on the bike. After winning Minus 400 Desert Extreme, he got himself another podium in Round 3, P2. Trystan Hart completed the podium and made history of being the first Canadian on the podium in Erzberg. He had his ups and downs throughout the race and even dropped to P8 before Carl’s Dinner but it didn’t take long to recover those positions and more back. World's best hard enduro riders faced a different kind of challenge in Israel at the Minus 400 Desert Extreme and it was the mindblowing heat. FIM's World Hard Enduro 2022 season started with Rd 1 Minus 400 and sometimes the conditions went inhumane. All competitors started to the Day 1 with a 14KM single track qualifier which was to define the fastest 30 to compete the afternoon session Super Enduro finals. They have got two runs for the best time but only the first one was mandatory. Although Billy Bolt was on top after the first run Sherco duo Mario and Wade took their second and passed Billy. Wednesday - Day 2 - started with a shock of heat and it was 40 degrees celsius early in the morning. Riders hit the 18KM prologue with the hope of having a flawless one which would help them decide not to take the optional second run. Sherco’s Wade Young was on a charge and completed the first run on top by finishing it in 37m48s. His team mate Mario Roman came in second only 6s behind and Billy Bolt third, +22s. The weather conditions got worse by the temperature reaching 50 degrees and a sand storm closing in which forced the jury to cancel second run and let riders charge their bodies for the main challenge. FIM World Hard Enduro Championship 2022 season kicked off with Minus 400 Desert Extreme Race in Israel. Race gets its name from the exotic Dead Sea region which is the lowest point on earth, 430.5m below sea level. After two days of qualification from Day 1’s Urban Race and Day 2’s Desert Prologue it was the day of main race - Minus 400 - on Thursday, 7th April. Final stretch was a 75KM single track from the city of Arad to the Dead Sea which was gradually designed to get tougher to the finish line. The pack hit the track at 08:00 in the morning in search of the best result that they can achieve. Desert Prologue winner Wade Young was the early leader of the race and reached to the CP1 first. South African kept his pace balanced with the leading group till CP8 but then he lost it. It was Mario Roman’s turn and he brought it home for the team. Spaniard fought for the lead with Billy Bolt and Wade Young till CP8 but then made his impact and took the lead till the chequered flag. Mario Roman got a stunning victory under these harsh conditions and made a dream start to the season. After passing CP8 Billy Bolt couldn’t find anything to fuel himself for a final move and from then on it was the struggle of hanging in the position for the Brit. After all he was happy finishing P2 under these tough conditions. World of Hard Enduro made its unofficial 2022 season debut with the France’s most famous hard enduro event, 24MX Alestrem Hard Enduro. After missing it in 2021 it was time to end the longing and more than 450 riders cheered the French action. Racing weekend consisted of three different race formats and on Saturday’s final we had the Minerva Super Enduro Prologue’s final heat. The world of hard enduro 2022 season premiered with 24MX Alestrem Hard Enduro on 22-23 January in Ales, France. Sherco’s talented duo Wade Young and Mario Roman were ready to defend the castle on the brand’s homeland. Some of the top privateers including Alfredo Gomez and Sonny Goggia were ready to challenge them too. After the single track Xtrem Test it was the time of Minerva Prologue. Beautifully set super enduro track and motocross style mass start was pretty exciting. After a tough day it was Alfredo Gomez on top of the days podium.
